About Professor Shan LIN:
Professor Lin is the Co-Director of Research at the Glaucoma Center of San Francisco. He graduated from UC Berkeley for his undergraduate education and achieved his medical degree at Tufts Medical School. His internship, ophthalmology residency, and glaucoma fellowship were completed at the University of California, San Francisco. He is the former Director of the Glaucoma Service and Professor of Ophthalmology at UCSF.
He is an author of over 250 peer-reviewed publications. His areas of research interest include angle-closure glaucoma, anterior segment imaging, and cyclodestructive procedures. He is immediate past-Executive Vice President of the World Glaucoma Association. His past leadership positions include Chair of the American Glaucoma Society’s Patient Care Committee, Chair of the Glaucoma Section of the Ophthalmic Technology Assessment Committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Chair of the American Glaucoma Society’s Document Review Subcommittee, and President, Vice President and Program Chair of the Pacific Coast Oto-Ophthalmological Society (PCOOS). His past honors include the Heed Fellowship Award, the American Glaucoma Society Clinician-Scientist Award, and the Mid-Career Award by the AGS. He has also been funded as a Principal Investigator by the National Institute of Health, including as a PI for the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS) study. He has been selected for “Best Doctors” in the U.S. He is currently on the editorial boards for the American Journal of Ophthalmology and Journal of Glaucoma.
