On June 12, 2026, PolyU hosted a landmark event in nuclear medicine — The First Hong Kong International Nuclear Medicine Innovation Conference. Leading scholars, clinical experts, industry pioneers, and government representatives from around the world gathered on campus to engage in in-depth global dialogue on cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence, radionuclide production, molecular imaging, and theranostics.

This conference was not only an academic exchange, but also a significant milestone in the development of nuclear medicine in Hong Kong.

2026年6月15日，香港理工大學與清華大學聯合舉辦的國際學術論壇在香港理工大學校園圓滿舉行。此次論壇由香港理工大學醫療及社會科學院轄下醫療科技及資訊學系主辦，清華大學工程物理系代表團專程到訪，雙方圍繞醫療科技與工程物理的交叉前沿領域展開深度交流，並舉行合作諒解備忘錄簽約儀式，標誌著兩校合作邁上新台階。

On June 15, 2026, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Tsinghua University successfully held an international academic forum on campus. Organized by PolyU’s Department of Health Technology and Informatics, the event welcomed a delegation from Tsinghua University’s Department of Engineering Physics. Both sides engaged in in depth exchanges on the frontier intersections of medical technology and engineering physics, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding, marking a new milestone in collaboration between the two universities.

由理大HTI協辦的香港放射治療師協會（HKART）年度學術會議於5月30日圓滿舉行，以「掌握新興技術，邁向精準放射治療」為主題，匯聚本地及國際專家，共同探討放射治療的最新發展與未來方向。

HTI與HKART於2025年1月簽訂合作備忘錄，有效期两年，積極推動教學、科研、工作坊及學術交流，攜手培育新一代放療專才，促進業界與學界協同發展。

✨HTI X HKART Annual Scientific Meeting 2026 ✨
The HKART Annual Scientific Meeting 2026, co-organised by HTI, was successfully held on 30 May at PolyU. Under the theme "Embracing Emerging Technologies for Precision Radiotherapy", the event brought together local and international experts to explore the latest developments and future directions in radiation therapy.

HTI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HKART in January 2025 to strengthen collaboration in education, research, workshops and academic exchange. The agreement, valid for two years, reflects the commitment of both organisations to nurturing the next generation of radiation therapy professionals and fostering stronger partnerships between academia and clinical practice.

💡 From smart radiotherapy and AI-enhanced education to clinical innovation and international collaboration, HKART 2026 showcased the immense potential of the radiation therapy profession in advancing the next era of precision medicine.

The Department of Health Technology and Informatics (HTI) at PolyU hosted the 2026 Three Minute Thesis Competition on May 27. Seven PhD students each had three minutes to present their cutting-edge research in an engaging way, competing for the top prizes. 溫州市長率團到訪理大｜深化校地合作 共促科技創新

5月27日，溫州市人民政府市長張文杰先生率團到訪香港理工大學，參觀超精密加工技術全國重點實驗室及放射治療設計及模擬治療實驗室。此外，雙方圍繞科研平臺共建、成果轉化、産業升級等議題深入交流，進一步推動理大溫州技術創新研究院的建設與發展。

PolyU Welcomes Wenzhou Delegation — Deepening Collaboration and Sparking Innovation Together

On May 27, Wenzhou Mayor Mr Zhang Wenjie led a delegation to PolyU, visiting the State Key Laboratory of Ultra-precision Machining Technology and the Laboratory for Radiotherapy Design and Simulation. Both sides held in-depth discussions on joint research platforms, knowledge transfer, and industrial upgrading, further advancing the development of the PolyU Wenzhou Institute of Technology Innovation.

四位來自中國內地的優秀博士後研究員——胡培磊博士、沈勝楠博士、王瑞鈺博士、王順民博士，榮獲 IoP醫學及健康獎學金 cm 內地頂尖人才 Fellowship（國家衛健委），並加入 HTI 教授團隊。他們將在衰老代謝、心血管疾病、分枝桿菌感染、類器官與營養干預等領域展開研究，使命一致：以科學回應臨床挑戰，以創新推動健康。 在 IoP 獎學金與國家衛健委的支持下，他們將在理大這片科研沃土上，結出豐碩成果，為全球健康事業貢獻中國智慧與力量。

Four outstanding postdoctoral researchers from Chinese Mainland — Dr HU Peilei, Dr SHEN Shengnan, Dr WANG Ruiyu, and Dr WANG Shunmin — have been awarded the IoP Medical & Health Scholarship-cum- Fellowship for Top Talent in Mainland, and joined HTI research teams at PolyU. Their research spans aging metabolism, cardiovascular diseases, mycobacterial infections, and organoids with nutritional interventions — united by one mission: to tackle clinical challenges through science and drive innovation for better health.

With the support of IoP and the National Health Commission, they will contribute China’s wisdom and strength to global health from PolyU.

On 18 May 2026, we were delighted to welcome Dr Karen Thomson, Associate Dean (International) of the School of Health and Life Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), to PolyU School of Nursing (SN) and HTI. This visit aimed to deepen our academic exchange and explore opportunities for future collaboration. 🌏🫱🏻‍🫲🏻

During her visit, Dr Thomson toured HTI’s Radiography and Medical Laboratory Science laboratories 🔬📸, experiencing our state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. She also learned more about our admissions and teaching environment, laying a solid foundation for future student exchange programmes.

2026年5月9日，HTI代表獲邀出席「2026年浙江省數理醫學學會人工智能賦能的放射腫瘤學實踐——聚焦前列腺癌診治學術論壇」及「浙江省抗癌協會放射物理技術專業委員會2026年學術年會」。會上，HTI系主任蔡璟教授及黎田教授分別發表《定量磁共振引導放療技術的研發與驗證》主題演講，分享醫學影像與精準放射治療結合的最新研究成果，推動人工智能於臨床治療中的創新應用。

活動期間，理大與浙江大學醫學院附屬第一醫院正式簽署合作備忘錄（MoU），確立雙方於醫學與資訊工程融合發展領域的合作框架，涵蓋科研合作、人才培育、學術交流及成果轉化等方向。

📍 展望未來
是次交流及簽約，進一步深化浙港兩地於智慧醫療及精準醫學領域的合作基礎，攜手推動醫療科技創新與臨床轉化發展。

On 9 May 2026, representatives from HTI were invited to participate in the “2026 Zhejiang Society of Mathematical Medicine Forum on AI-Enabled Radiation Oncology Practice — Focus on Prostate Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment” and the “2026 Academic Annual Meeting of the Radiological Physics Technology Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association”. During the conferences, Prof. CAI Jing, Head of HTI, and Prof. LI Tian delivered presentations on the development and validation of quantitative MRI-guided radiotherapy technologies, showcasing recent advances in precision radiotherapy and AI-assisted clinical applications.

During the visit, PolyU formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, establishing a collaborative framework in medical-information engineering integration, including joint research, talent development, academic exchange, and translational innovation.

📍 Looking Ahead
The exchange and MoU signing further strengthened Zhejiang–Hong Kong collaboration in smart healthcare and precision medicine, fostering future innovation in medical technology and clinical translation.
