𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗷 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Imon Raza, Asst. Prof. Faculty of Design, CEPT University, has been selected for the Godrej Design Lab Fellowship Program 2026 for his project on research- and data-driven storytelling of climate change through film, tracing interconnected narratives between Indian and French rivers. 

The Fellowship recognises emerging leaders in design and provides a platform to advance innovative, sustainable, and interdisciplinary projects that address pressing real-world challenges. At CEPT, through his Studio - Cinemascapes and the Summer School - Oceanic Tales: An Introduction to Underwater Filmmaking and Marine Ecology, Imon guided students to engage with ecosystems affected by climate change. 

The Fellowship is co-awarded with Dr Priyanka Das Rajkakati, Founder of Atelier Arth. Over the course of the year, the Fellowship will provide mentorship, resources, and institutional support to further develop and expand the project’s impact.

𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗡𝗙𝗙 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗨

CEPT University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Narayana Family Foundation (TNFF) to support academic and research initiatives within the M.Arch, Landscape Architecture program. The 3-year partnership, for the 2026–29 period, establishes a grant framework to strengthen teaching, research, and academic exchange in landscape architecture.

Under the agreement, TNFF will support a range of academic initiatives within the program, including a TNFF Landscape Architecture Fellowship, which will support a recent graduate in undertaking an independent, design-led or research-driven inquiry over 11 months. Through scholarships, a fellowship program, a lecture series, and conference travel support, the initiative aims to foster independent inquiry, encourage emerging practitioners, and advance contemporary discourse in the discipline.

A student project titled Exterior Wall Painting Robot, designed by Nihar Shah (FT UG ’20), has been officially registered as Intellectual Property by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Government of India.

Guided by faculty Bhargav Tewar and Tapan Betai, along with TAs Vikas Patel and Brijesh Pandya, the project reimagines how exterior wall painting is carried out on construction sites. Designed to reduce manual effort and improve safety, the robot automates painting at heights—minimizing risk while ensuring precision.

With a zig-zag motion system and programmable controls, the machine can paint faster and more efficiently than traditional methods—covering 10 sq. ft. in just 90 seconds. It also optimizes material use, requiring only a single coat for a professional finish.

A step forward in merging technology with the built environment.

𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮

CEPT University recently hosted a delegation from the Embassy of France in India. The delegation was led by His Excellency Mr. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India, who was accompanied by Mrs. Cécile Mathou; Mr. Grégor Trumel, Counsellor for Cultural Cooperation; Mr. Patrick Leverino, Consul General of France in Mumbai; Mr. Emmanuel Bottiau, Director of Alliance Française Ahmedabad; and Ms. Aura Burzynski, Cultural Attaché for West India.

During their visit, the delegation engaged in meaningful dialogue with the University's leadership, including Anita Hiranandani, Registrar; Chirayu Bhatt, Deputy Provost; Dr. Sejal Patel, Dean, Faculty of Management; Rishav Jain, Head of International Office; Jharna Guleria, Assistant Registrar; Namrata Shah, Manager, International Office. The discussions focused on CEPT pedagogy, academic collaboration, innovation in design and technology, and fostering stronger educational ties between France and India.

The delegation also toured the campus, visiting the Faculty of Architecture's iconic building and the modern design of the Lilavati Lalbhai Library, gaining insights into CEPT’s vibrant academic environment and commitment to sustainable development.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Rishav Jain as the Head of International Office

Rishav Jain is Associate Professor and Program Chair for the Bachelor's of Design (Hons.) program at the Faculty of Design CEPT University (FD). In recent years, he has been instrumental in shaping the B.Des program, which offers majors in Product Design and Communication Design along with a multidisciplinary pathway, positioning it as one of the first design programs in India with such diverse offerings and pedagogical structure.

With diverse experience in teaching and academic leadership, he has taught across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. He previously chaired the International Master’s in Interior Architectural Design (IMIAD) at FD and led its successful transition to the Master's in Interior Design(MID) now offered through the Faculty of Architecture. He also served as Exchange Coordinator for the Faculty of Design, facilitating international academic exchanges, and has taught and led workshops at international institutions.

As the new Head of International Office, Rishav will aim to expand opportunities for international collaborations in all Faculties and at all program levels.
