Children often confuse /b/ & /d/ /q/ & /p/
because their developing brains treat these mirror-image letters as the same object in different orientations, similar to how a coffee mug looks the same regardless of which side the handle is on. This is a normal, temporary stage of cognitive and visual spatial development upto age 7.
Use mnemonics, such as saying that 'b' has belly in front while 'd' has a diaper in back.
