यह महाराष्ट्र मेट्रो रेल कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड की एक इनोवेटिव पहल है, जिसमें ट्रैक के बीच की खाली जगह को उपयोग में लाकर वहां सोलर पैनल लगाए गए हैं। यह करीब 50 kWp का पायलट प्रोजेक्ट है, जिसे लगभग 200 मीटर लंबे ट्रैक एरिया में स्थापित किया गया है। इससे हर साल लगभग 70,000 यूनिट ग्रीन एनर्जी बनने की उम्मीद है, जो सीधे मेट्रो की जरूरतों में इस्तेमाल होगी और कार्बन उत्सर्जन को भी कम करने में मदद करेगी। यह कदम बिना अतिरिक्त जमीन लिए, मौजूदा इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर को ही एनर्जी सोर्स में बदलने का शानदार उदाहरण है।
यह पहल भारत के ग्रीन ट्रांसपोर्ट और सस्टेनेबल डेवलपमेंट की दिशा में एक बड़ा कदम मानी जा रही है, जो आने वाले समय में दूसरे शहरों के लिए भी प्रेरणा बनेगी।
नागपुर मेट्रो ने एक बार फिर साबित कर दिया है कि भारत अब सिर्फ विकास नहीं कर रहा, बल्कि क्लीन और स्मार्ट फ्यूचर का नेतृत्व भी कर रहा है।
