I was selected to represent the 1 Raj Armd Sqn NCC for Mountaineering Course at a premier high-altitude institute. The culmination of this training was the successful summit of Mount Renok, situated at an altitude of 16,000 feet. This expedition tested the limits of endurance, technical climbing ability, and the "Never Give Up" spirit of an NCC cadet.
Phase I: Rigorous Training & Acclimatization
Before the final ascent, we underwent intensive training at the base camp. This included:
Physical Conditioning: Long-distance treks with 15-20kg rucksacks to build stamina.
Technical Skills: Mastery of "Rock Craft" and "Ice Craft," including rappelling and base-making.
Medical Science: Learning about HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema) and oxygen management.
Phase II: The Summit Push
The climb to the 16,000ft summit of Mt. Renok involved traversing treacherous moraines and steep snow slopes.
The Environment: Temperatures dropped well below freezing, and oxygen levels were significantly lower than in Jaipur.
The Climb: Using specialized gear like crampons and ice axes, we moved in rope teams, ensuring the safety of every comrade.
The Victory: Reaching the summit, I proudly displayed the NCC flag, representing the pride of University Rajasthan College.
Learning Outcomes
Mental Fortitude: Developed the grit to push through physical exhaustion.
Discipline: Adhered to strict mountain safety protocols where a single mistake could be fatal.
Teamwork: Reinforced the "Armoured Squadron" ethos of looking out for your brothers-in-arms during the rope-up.
