A Divine Symphony of Rhythm and Art at Kateel! 🙏✨
From the lush greens of Kerala to the sacred riverbanks of the Nandini River, my journey to the Kateel Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple was not just a visit, but a calling. 🥁🎨
Last week, I had the immense blessing of being part of the temple festival for four days. Being invited to play the Chenda in the presence of Kateelda Appe (Mother Kateel) was a spiritual experience beyond words. Every beat of the drum felt like a heartbeat of devotion, connecting my roots in Kerala to the divine energy of this sacred land.
But the highlight was witnessing the breathtaking Thidambu Nritham. Watching the priest gracefully dance with the deity’s idol on his head, amidst the rhythmic echoes and flickering lamps, was a celestial sight. My hands couldn’t resist—I had to capture that divine energy. Sitting amidst the festival crowd, I did a live sketch of the priest performing the dance.
The most emotional moment was when I finished the sketch and handed it over to the head priest. The smile and the blessing I received in return felt like the ultimate reward for my art and my music.
This journey taught me that art is indeed a form of prayer. Whether through the rhythm of the Chenda or the strokes of a pen, it’s all about surrendering to the Divine.
