Today'sGujratiMidday"
Art Career is Not a Second Option, It is the Engine of the Indian Economy"
By Vikrant Karia
The current era is less about the "survival of the fittest" and more about the "survival of the smartest." If there is one sector rapidly emerging in the changing economy, it is Art. There was a time when design was considered limited merely to decoration, but today, it has become an indispensable necessity for business. Today’s consumer in the market has become highly empowered. They have an abundance of choices, and their expectations are sky-high. When every brand is using identical technology and materials, what will the consumer buy? The answer is: whatever design attracts them and makes their life simpler. This is exactly why there has been a massive surge in the demand for professional designers in the industry today.
Design touches every aspect of our lives. From the cup we drink tea from right after waking up in the morning, to the cars running on the roads, to the offices or hospitals we sit in—there is a creative mind working behind every single space. In India, for years, designers have successfully established their presence in manufacturing, advertising agencies, and design studios. Not only that, but many young designers have also given a new direction to industries through their startups.
Today, technology is accessible to everyone. In such a scenario, the competition between companies is now being fought solely on the battleground of design. In the coming times, design is going to become the biggest strength for every company. Following global trends, the scope of design education has expanded in India. Whether it is media, handicrafts, or the private sector; this profession is now receiving great respect and high value everywhere.
Over the last two decades, parents and students have become aware of this field, but there is still a lack of precise information regarding its depth and the opportunities within it. My objective is that students of the 10th and 12th standards should accept this field not just as an alternative career option, but as their first choice. Highly financially viable career options like Architecture, Interior Design, Applied Art, Fashion, and Modern Design fields like Graphics-Animation are available for students. By entering these fields through entrance exams or diplomas, one can secure high-paying jobs in big agencies or start a self-reliant business. If you possess creativity, the market has rolled out a red carpet for you. "What is visible is what sells, and what is designed in the best way is what lasts."
