In two days, Nikesh Gosalia will be joining the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) Summer Symposium 2026 for the session, “The Importance of Global Research in Achieving the SDGs.”

The discussion will examine how editorial leadership, journal policies, and peer review practices can support SDG progress by encouraging global participation, equitable authorship, interdisciplinary research, transparency, data integrity, and stronger integration of SDG-related practices into editorial workflows and policies.

The session will also look at the broader challenges shaping global research today, including funding pressures, geopolitical shifts, accessibility, and international collaboration.

We’d love for you to be part of the conversation. Registrations are still open. We hope to see you there:

Safe to say the team did not keep it “6-7” after bringing home a Gold and a Silver at the EPIC Awards this year. 🏆🥂

We’re delighted to share that CACTUS was recognized with:

🥇Gold for SmartScreen by Paperpal Preflight for our work with Wolters Kluwer, helping publishers and authors identify language, technical compliance and structural gaps before manuscripts enter peer review helping reduce avoidable delays and improve submission readiness from the start.

🥈 Silver for the AGU Author Video Series by CACTUS Digital Media Solutions for our work with AGU, recognized in the Voices of Discovery category for transforming complex scientific research into engaging, accessible, story-driven video content designed to help research connect with wider audiences.

These recognitions represent months of collaboration, problem-solving, reviews, revisions and creative thinking from teams that genuinely care about improving publishing workflows and helping research more accessible, engaging and impactful.

Very proud of the teams behind both these wins.

P.S. For everyone about to Google what “6-7” means: it basically just means acting chill and unbothered… which the team obviously couldn’t do after the wins.🤪

Just 1 day to go for SSP's 48th Annual Meeting!

We’ll be there for some important conversations shaping scholarly publishing- from Chris Leonard’s industry breakout session, Fixing the Last Mile of Peer Review, to Chirag Jay Patel joining the opening plenary moderated discussion, Navigating the Paradox: Adaptation, Innovation, and Collaboration.

In between sessions, you’ll find us at Booth 106 talking about peer review, AI, accessibility, research integrity, discoverability, publishing workflows and probably debating where to get the best coffee nearby.

While SSP keeps the schedule packed, Chula Vista has a few gems worth stepping away for. So, if you’re joining SSP this year, here’s CACTUS' unofficial guide to making the most of the city whether you’re looking for a good conversation spot, a quiet reset between meetings or something a little unexpected.

If you’re around, come say hi. Meet us at the conference, grab a coffee with us between sessions or book a meeting and head to one of these spots with us. We’re always up for good conversations!
