Some homes are built with plans and precision, and some… are born from memory.

Anantham is one of those; a home that began not with drawings, but with stories. Stories of my client’s childhood home in the South. Of gentle light that moved slowly through the day, of the smell of earth after rain, of laughter echoing through old corridors.

We didn’t try to recreate what once was. We tried to remember it, to translate emotion into space, and memory into material. Every curtain, every lamp, every texture carries a quiet familiarity… the kind that feels like coming home after a very long time.

And as this song plays, soft, wistful, filled with echoes of another time; I’m reminded that some stories never really end, they just find new walls to live in. ♥️

The guest bedroom features a bed with cylindrical posts designed in wood along with flat panels on the wall behind; that add verticality to the space to create an airy and spacious feel. Rattan furniture in natural, rustic textures, contrasting with sleek PU finishes that brings visual interest and balance. For us, the highlight of the room is a cosy reading nook with a vintage armchair that the client enjoys to relax and unwind.

The master bedroom combines traditional and modern design elements to create a distinctive and inviting space. It features old wooden doors, which add a touch of vintage charm and character. These classic elements are complemented by contemporary touches such as half-height paneling, which has a very clean and updated aesthetic. The addition of wallpaper and soft furnishings enhances the room’s softness and creates a sense of comfort and relaxation.
Together, these design elements are a strong visual backdrop for the bed, making it the focal point of the room. The combination of traditional and modern elements ensures the space is both stylish and cozy, inviting rest and relaxation.

Step into the living room where the old meets new. We designed the living room wall moulding detail in dreamy tones of beige; and flushed the door to the bedroom in the same wall panelling for a more integrated look. The black metal and fluted glass doors add a contemporary element to the space.
Some of the loose furniture pieces that belonged to the client such as consoles made in rose wood with beautiful intricate carvings over a 100 years old were retained as is, and this helped us to keep the individuality of the space as it is but at the same time have a harmonious blend of both.

We wanted to overlay a lot of different materials through the house to create a tactile space without making the apartment look heavy and cluttered.
In this frame we have the unevenly textured white bricks overlayed with a smooth green bedback.
The fluted glass sliding door opens into the walk- in-wardrobe and the en-suite bathroom.
