Itโs GIVING TUESDAY! If youโve been looking to support meaningful work, this is it. Itโs been such a privilege serving Georgia educators and students as Board Chair of the Environmental Educational Alliance. Even a small gift can spark real change, strengthen communities, and help us keep doing the work that matters.
Join the movement, and give in whatever way you can today.
Together, we make a bigger difference than we ever could alone. ๐๐

Last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to travel with my doctoral colleagues to the Georgia Lowcountry. One of the many highlights of the trip was a visit to the community of PinPoint and their heritage museum where native Gullah-Geechee speakers shared their stories. The museum, located in the old A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory just outside of Savannah, was filled with photos and artifacts of the Iocals who worked at the factory, many of whom are now deceased.
As a Bahamian living in Georgia, I saw so many cultural similarities which underscored our shared connection as a people. The weekend was not complete without a visit to the oldest Black church in America, First African Baptist Church, founded in Savannah by Rev. George Liele. Special thank you to Dr. Gertrude Tinker-Sachs for providing this unique experience for us.

This past weekend I had the privilege of attending the 40th Annual Southeastern Association for Science Teacher Education Conference at Georgia State University. My doctoral colleagues and I presented on the topic โLeveraging AI-Assisted Augmented Reality in the 3D Science classroom.โArtificial Intelligence in education has the potential to provide outstanding benefits for students and educators, and in this talk we explored the use of Luma AI Genie technology in tandem with the Merge Cube Platform to provide tactile, kinesthetic, auditory, and visual interactions that complement and improve student learning. Thank you to SASTE president Dr. Natalie King for an incredible experience.

Always a pleasure connecting with my mentors Audrey Peterman and her husband Frank! Also got to meet Dr. Susan Otuokon, former manager of Jamaica Conservation and Development Trust, which oversaw Blue Mountains and John Crow Mountains National Parks! ๐ฏ๐ฒ
