WhenColonial forces destroyed the Pinnacle Community and forced Leonard Howell into Exile (culminating in the 1954 raid and his subsequent bankruptcy and relocation) ,it did not destroy Rastafari ,instead the dispersal scattered Howells followers across the Island serving as a catalyst that spread the movement .Displaced Rastafari migrated from the Hills into the poorest most underdeveloped areas of Kingston .Back O.Wall and the surrounded areas of Denham Town and Trench Town .Other Bretheren took to Higher Hills all over the Country

Leonard Howell also known as the leader of the first Rastafari community was noticeably absent from official events of Emperor Haile Selassie First of Ethiopia 1966 visit to Jamaica .His absence was primarily due to Sir Alexander Bustamante administration excluding him from.the GUEST List .
In the early years of Rastafari Howell endured years of persecution.imprisonment and confinement for his radical and anticolonial teachings ..After the destruction of his Pinnacle Community by the Jamaican authoritied.in.1954 Howell was forced to withdraw from the national public eye ..
