Let's have an honest conversation.

With the new term underway, I keep seeing the same pattern: students who study for hours but still freeze in the exam room. π
After working with IB, IGCSE, and A-Level students here in Nairobi, we've noticed it's rarely about effort β it's about how they're practising.
We put together a short 3-point checklist for parents on how to build what we call "Conceptual Flexibility" at home β the skill that separates students who recall answers from students who think through problems they've never seen before.
Drop a comment below (even just a π) and I'll send the PDF straight to your inbox.

Can I be honest with you for a second?
A few weeks ago, one of my students submitted work that was technically correct ; well-structured, good vocabulary, hit every mark.
But when I asked them to walk me through their thinking, they went quiet.
AI had done it. All of it.
And I sat there thinking , this child is not learning. They're outsourcing and nobody around them has stopped to say: there's a better way to use this tool.
That moment is why I'm hosting this masterclass.
On the 2nd week of June, SomoNzuri is running a 3-part series on Artificial Intelligence in Education β and we want students, teachers, and parents in that room.
Day 1 is for everyone β we're going back to basics. What is AI, how is it showing up in schools, and where are we getting it wrong?
Day 2 is for students β we're talking about the difference between using AI to think more and using it to think less. One builds you. The other quietly hollows you out.
Day 3 is for teachers β because you deserve to have your time back. We're looking at how AI can handle the reports, the planning, the admin, so you can get back to the part of teaching that no algorithm will ever replace: knowing your students.
If you've been watching AI creep into education and wondering what to do about it β this is for you.
Registration details are in the comments. Bring a friend, bring a colleague, bring your child. Everyone is welcome. π

Here's something I've been thinking about a lot lately.
Artificial intelligence is already part of how many students are learning β or at least, how they're completing their schoolwork. AI tools can write essays, solve equations, summarise textbooks, and answer exam questions in seconds.
And that sounds helpful. Until you realise the student never had to think at all.
If you've ever sat with your child while they "did their homework" and wondered whether they actually understood any of it β this is worth paying attention to.
The challenge with AI in education isn't that it exists. It's that most students (and many teachers) haven't been shown how to use it in a way that actually builds their intelligence rather than replacing it.
That's a conversation I want to start here. Has AI come up in your child's school or homework routine? What have you noticed? Share in the comments β I'd genuinely love to hear what parents are experiencing on the ground. π

Most parents don't realise the jump from IGCSE to A Levels isn't just harder; it's a completely different way of thinking.
The content goes deeper. The exams expect more. And the students who struggle aren't the ones who aren't smart enough β they're the ones who didn't get the right support early enough.
If you've been wondering whether your child is really prepared for what's ahead, that instinct is worth listening to.
At SomoNzuri, I work one-on-one with A Level students in Maths, Physics, and Computer Science/IT β building the depth of understanding that Cambridge and Edexcel actually reward.
Because the parent who caught it early is the one whose child walks out of those exams with options.

In a world where we are daily witnesses to the success and joys of others; they bought a home, a new car, got a promotion at work. It is easy to feel isolated as the only one who isn't making progress, or at least, not fast enough.
Your journey matters, take time today to reflect on where you are now vs 5 years ago. Do you see a change? Have you appreciated yourself for keeping persistent and not giving up?

When parents ask, "Can you help my child pass their upcoming exams?" my answer is always the same:
We don't just help them pass. We make sure they never have to cram or panic over a test again.
Traditional learning relies on "pattern memorization"
At SomoNzuri, we train students to master the underlying logic so they can solve any problem, no matter how itβs framed on an exam.
We aren't just managing daily tutoring logistics; we are actively steering the vision of modern learning.
Current Intake Capacity:
To guarantee individual, top-tier academic results, our placements are strictly capped at maximum 5 students per subject overall for this intake block.
Once these placements are secured, our roster closes to protect our standard of excellence.

There's a window between Year 9 and Year 11 that most parents don't know about β and it's the most important one.
It's the gap between "they'll catch up" and "I wish we'd started sooner."
At SomoNzuri, we work one-on-one with IGCSE students in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science β not just to cover content, but to build the kind of understanding that holds up under exam pressure.
Because when your child walks into that exam room feeling ready, you'll know you made the right call.

Has your child ever said something after a bad result that broke your heart a little? You don't have to share β but if you want to, I'm listening.

If your child aces practice papers but struggles in the actual exam β they've learned the pattern, not the concept.
In my sessions, I break the pattern. On purpose.
Because a student who truly understands can apply knowledge anywhere β not just where they've seen it before.
At SomoNzuri, we build students who adapt.
What subject does your child memorise easily but struggle to apply?
