THE SOLFA NOTATION FOR BEGINNERS 🌹

Absolutely! Solfa notation (often called Tonic Sol-fa) is a system used to teach singing and music by naming notes with syllables instead of letter names.
1. Lets know the Seven Solfa Notes to start with.

The basic solfa syllables are:

Solfa. Pronunciation
Do. doh
Re. ray
Mi. mee
Fa. fah
Sol (or So) so
La. lah
Ti (or Si) tee
Do. doh (higher octave)

Think of them as steps on a musical ladder:
Do – Re – Mi – Fa – Sol – La – Ti – Do
A famous example is from the song "Do-Re-Mi" in the movie The Sound of Music.

2. Solfa and the Musical Scale
In the key of C major:

Solfa. Letter Note
Do. C
Re. D
Mi. E
Fa. F
Sol. G
La. A
Ti. B
Do. C

So when you sing:
Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do
you are singing:
C D E F G A B C

3. Hand Signs (Optional but Helpful)
Many music teachers use hand signs to represent each note. This helps train your ear and memory. I will post the chart of this hand signs latter today for more explanation.

Do = closed fist
Re = slanted hand
Mi = flat hand
Fa = thumb down
Sol = flat palm facing out
La = curved hand
Ti = pointing finger
Do = closed fist higher
These signs come from the John Curwen method and are widely used in choir training.

4. Learning Note Relationships
One advantage of solfa is that it teaches how notes relate to each other.
Try singing:
Do – Mi – Sol (sounds happy and stable)
Sol – Fa – Mi – Re – Do (descending)
Do – Re – Mi – Re – Do
Practice slowly until you can hear the pitch changes.

5. Solfa Rhythm Example
A simple melody:
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol
Then:
Fa Fa Mi Mi Re Re Do
This is the melody

Chords are a fundamental building block of music, providing harmony, emotional expression, structure, and support for melodies. Without chords, much of the richness and emotional impact of music would be lost. That's why I always encourage musicians to learn not only the major chords but the minors, because musical chords are important, they provide the harmonic foundation of music.
