Interrogating Public Policy and Identity Formation
By Stephen Muiruri
Public policy is slowly expanding into areas of personal identity — spaces historically formed and nurtured within the family. And that shift deserves more than casual acceptance. It demands interrogation.
Because when policy begins defining or promoting expressive layers of identity — instead of focusing on its core mandate of protecting the population from harm — it risks weakening the very foundations that hold societies together.
Identity begins with what is structurally true, not with feelings or desires.
Family, biological s*x, and parental authority are foundational identity anchors. They are stable, universal, and essential for human continuity. These are not political or ideological expressions. They are the bedrock of humanity.
And here’s the part we often avoid saying:
Not every identity claim is foundational.
Not every expression is good.
Not every perception is right.
Human beings can be wrong about themselves — even about identity.
This is why personal exploration belongs in the private sphere, not in public policy.
How does policy protect something that is a feeling?
And what happens when those feelings change?
This is the gap I Am Factor™ addresses.
I Am Factor™ helps individuals return to and re‑examine their identity foundations — the “I Am” — before anything else.
It aligns who we are, who we think we are, and who we are becoming.
Because when identity is clear, people flourish.
When public policy respects boundaries, society stabilizes.
When families lead identity formation and nurturing, children grow with clarity.
But if we ignore these policy trends, we risk building systems on shifting sand — and the cost to society will be far greater than we imagine.
Identity is not invented.
Identity is revealed.
Identity is stewarded.
Societies flourish when identity is rooted and nurtured in the family.
When public policy tries to take that place, we trade stability for uncertainty — a burden future generations will carry.

When you know who you are, the world loses its grip on you.
Identity gives you the freedom to step back, evaluate anything honestly, and choose what aligns with who you truly are.
I learned this early — not by rejecting what I was taught, but by affirming what aligned with my identity.
When identity leads, influence loses its hold.

Identity is always the leader!
When identity shows up, leadership becomes effortless.
Most of us learned to lead from versions we created ourselves that we struggle to maintain.
But when your core identity is present, everything aligns.
This is what I Am Factor is all about.

There are days when your work needs more than what you can do…
it needs who you are.
Because the moments that seem ordinary
can turn into a magical everyday experience.
The calm you bring,
the way people feel when you walk in,
the impact you create effortlessly —
simply by being who you are.
And that’s what makes the whole difference —
those moments that seem ordinary
suddenly feel magical.
This is The I Am Factor —
not something you perform,
but something that shows up through you
in real, everyday experiences.
When your work asks for more,
it may be asking for who you really are.

Sometimes it’s not the “treat” that costs you, it’s the unconscious trade you never realized you were making.
The I Am Factor helps you see the difference.
If you’ve fallen for “it’s just a treat,” this is for you.

What Is Leadership?
Before defining what leadership is, it is essential to clarify what it is not.
Leadership is not a display of power, prestige, or position. It is not a tool for control, manipulation, or dominance. It is never about proving how important one is or using authority to elevate ego. These are distortions—not expressions—of true leadership.
True leadership begins with identity.
It is the disciplined practice of leading yourself well before attempting to lead anyone else. It is the internal alignment of who you are, what you value, and how you show up. When your identity is grounded, your leadership becomes authentic, stable, and transformational.
In the I Am Factor philosophy, leadership is first an inner posture before it becomes an outer expression. It is the work of becoming someone worth following—not because of title, but because of truth, integrity, and purpose.
