The SkillUp Sri Lanka – Modern Career Guidance and Skill Development Awareness Program was successfully held on 22nd June 2026 at St. Paul's Girls' School - Milagiriya, engaging students who had recently completed their O/L examinations and were preparing to transition into A/L studies.
The session empowered students to identify their strengths, align their passions with suitable A/L subject streams, and approach their academic journey strategically with a clear vision for their future careers. Special emphasis was placed on making informed decisions in line with the rapidly evolving, technology-driven global job market.
The program was conducted by Mr. Dian Baduge, Director of the Future Lanka Research & Development Foundation (FLRDF), who highlighted the importance of staying updated on global career trends, industry developments, and essential future-ready skills.
The session was further enriched by an esteemed panel of resource persons, including Mr. Samantha Rajapaksha, Head of Department – Information Technology & Computing (FOC), Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT); Mr. Kith Perera, Associate Manager – New Business Development & Employer Relations at AICPA & CIMA; Mr. Krishnadeva Kesavan, Lecturer and Head of the Department of Cyber Security at Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT); and Ms. Nimesha Rajakaruna, Academic Head – School of Computing at the Australasian Academy. Through engaging discussions and real-world case studies, they provided students with valuable insights into emerging career opportunities across diverse sectors.

We recently concluded a highly impactful Positive Behaviour & Emotional Well-being Programme for the middle school students of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, held on 17th and 18th June 2026.
We were privileged to have Ms. Oshini Wimalasena – Senior Lecturer, Mr. Shehan Balasuriya – Assistant Lecturer, and Mr. Mihiran Weerathunga – Assistant Manager from SLIIT CITY UNI (SCU), along with Mr. Shehan Wijesundara – Head of Culinary and Mr. Julyan Dharmasena – Lecturer in Hospitality Management from Australasian Academy, share their invaluable insights alongside our facilitation team from the Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation (FLRDF): Mr. Dian Baduge, Director, and Ms. Hiruni Liyanage, Head of Academic Affairs.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Rev. Fr. Rector, Rev. Fr. Vice Rector, the Sectional Head, and the Class Teachers for inviting us and for the invaluable support extended in successfully conducting these sessions.

Modern Skills Development & CareerOne Platform Awareness Session
A Modern Skills Development & CareerOne Platform Awareness Session was conducted for students of the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) on 17 June 2026. The session was organized and facilitated by the Future Lanka Research and Development Foundation with the objective of enhancing students' awareness of current industry trends, emerging skill requirements, and global workforce expectations for professional success.
During the session, students were guided through the registration process and introduced to the CareerOne platform. CareerOne is a KOICA-funded initiative implemented under the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC)- Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, Sri Lanka. The platform serves as a centralized digital ecosystem connecting vocational students, employers and career guidance officers.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. K. A. Lalithadheera, Director General of TVEC, for his presence and the valuable insights he shared during the session. We also wish to thank the TVEC - CareerOne project team, the Vocational Training Authority (VTA), and UBION for their excellent coordination and support in successfully organizing and delivering this event.
