The Department of Transport Management and Logistics Engineering at the University of Moratuwa recently conducted the Final Evaluation of the Integrated Capstone Design Project of Intake 21, marking an important milestone in the academic journey of final-year undergraduates reading for the BSc.Eng (Hons) in Transport Management and Logistics Engineering.

The capstone design project represents a key academic and professional component of the degree programme, providing students with the opportunity to apply engineering knowledge, analytical thinking, systems thinking, and structured problem-solving approaches to real-world challenges in transport, logistics, and supply chain management.

The evaluation process offered students exposure to formal professional review practices. During the presentations, the academic panel provided structured, constructive feedback, focusing on technical design, analysis, feasibility considerations, implementation planning, and overall project integration.

Discussions during the evaluation emphasised the importance of clearly defined problem statements, strengthened analytical justification, consideration of sustainability and scalability, and improved clarity in communication and decision-making frameworks. This feedback-oriented process is intended to support ongoing learning and development.

The event concluded with the Final Capstone Showcase, where project outcomes were presented and discussed with the evaluation panel in an academic setting.

The department acknowledges the efforts of the student teams throughout the project and the contributions of academic staff, advisors, and evaluators to the evaluation of the Integrated Capstone Design Project.
