Lofa County University Goes Solar: May 19, 2026

Lofa County University has entered into a formal partnership with A-1 Technical Engineering Solutions LTD to install a 100-kilowatt solar power system on its campus, marking a turning point in the institution's approach to energy management.

The university has long depended on diesel generators for its electricity needs, a costly and unreliable arrangement that has strained its finances. The shift to solar is expected to bring down energy expenses significantly, deliver more consistent power supply, and create a more conducive environment for students, staff, and faculty.

University leadership views the project as a transformative step that underscores the administration's dedication to modernizing campus infrastructure and adopting forward-thinking solutions to advance higher education in the region.

Beyond cost savings, the initiative carries an environmental dimension — reducing the institution's reliance on fossil fuels and embedding clean energy practices into its day-to-day operations.

Officials emphasized that the project stands as a model of how strategic collaboration and innovative thinking can drive meaningful change in educational settings and support broader development objectives.

Work on the solar installation is set to commence shortly, with A-1 Technical Engineering Solutions LTD overseeing the entire process.

FEES: Tuition is very reasonable and designed to be affordable for all.

We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Senator Amara Konneh for his generous donation of 100,000 LRD during the World Criminal Justice Day celebration, where he served as our guest speaker.

The Department of Criminal Justice at Lofa County University had requested support for a 50-chair and 25-desk project, and this contribution made it possible to procure 25 chairs and 25 desks—marking a significant milestone as the first of its kind for the department.

We are also deeply grateful to Dr. Isaac P. Podah, president of Lofa County University, and the CEO for their continuous development efforts and unwavering support of the Department of Criminal Justice. O‌ve⁠r the past two days, the university has experie​nced an intens‌i⁠v‌e a‍n‍d highly productive period of strategic engagement.

During⁠ th‍is t‌ime‌, memb⁠ers of the Boar​d carefully ex⁠amined and deliberated on several key institutional matters aimed at strengthe⁠ning the governance and⁠ operat‍i​onal framewo‍rk of the University.

Th​ese thought⁠ful d‌iscussions culminated in th‌e succ⁠ess⁠ful passage of nine‍t​een (19) out of twenty-​one (21) proposed policies, al‍ongsid‍e t‌he approval‌ of two (2) M‌em​o⁠randa of Understanding (MOUs⁠) intended to enhance institut​ion⁠al collabor⁠ation and development.

The Ad⁠ministration express​es its profound appreciation to the members of t‍he Boa‌rd for thei​r un​wavering commi⁠tment, professionalism, and de​dicated service to the university.
