Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in pregnancy and can have significant effects on both maternal and fetal wellbeing.
Symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, and reduced energy levels can impact daily functioning and quality of life during pregnancy. If left untreated, iron deficiency may increase the risk of complications including preterm birth and low birth weight.
Midwives play an important role in recognising symptoms early, supporting nutritional education, monitoring blood results, and promoting effective management throughout pregnancy 🤍

✨Did you know an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine technique may help encourage a breech baby to turn naturally?
Moxibustion involves burning dried mugwort near a specific acupuncture point called BL67, located on the outer corner of the little toe. The warmth and stimulation are believed to increase fetal movement and encourage the baby into the cephalic position.
📍 Commonly used between 32–36 weeks of pregnancy
⏱ Typically practiced for 10–15 minutes daily over several days
🤰 Most often used as a complementary therapy for breech presentation
While some studies suggest positive outcomes, moxibustion should always be discussed with a qualified healthcare provider or midwife before trying it during pregnancy.
Education empowers informed choices 💛

Newborns are particularly vulnerable to heat loss after birth, making thermoregulation an essential part of immediate newborn care.
Because of their thin skin, limited fat stores, and large surface area, babies can lose heat rapidly through evaporation, conduction, convection, and radiation. If not managed effectively, cold stress can lead to complications such as hypoglycaemia, respiratory distress, and increased oxygen demand.
Midwives play a vital role in preventing heat loss through simple but effective interventions such as immediate drying, skin-to-skin contact, warm environments, and ongoing temperature monitoring.
Understanding newborn thermoregulation is key for both clinical practice and safe neonatal care 🤍
