An independent candidate is set to serve as president of the Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU), despite SDM retaining a majority on the council following this year’s student elections.

SDM secured the largest share of seats overall, maintaining control of the council. However, the presidency is expected to be held by an independent candidate, creating a different leadership dynamic within KSU.

KSU, which represents students at the University of Malta, plays a key role in addressing academic and social matters, as well as liaising with university administration.

The coming term is likely to see collaboration between the independent president and an SDM-majority council, as both sides work to represent students’ interests.
