👀A look inside the book: Investitures of the Order of St. Michael and St. George in Malta.

The origins of this book spring from several personal interests; chief amongst these are the author’s modest family connections with the Order of St Michael and St George together with a fascination with court uniforms and the protocol followed at historic ceremonies. However, a significant external factor provided the catalyst for the realisation of this publication; this was the refurbishment of the Grand
Master’s Palace in Valletta and especially the dedication of a room to the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George within the summer quarters of the Grand Masters. The remembrance of the Order’s connections to the Palace deserved an in-depth explanation and a visual exposition of the history
of the eponymous Hall through the century and a half of British influence in Malta.
This work is thus by necessity devoted to the Order in Malta, and the main body of this book starts in December 1818, following the foundation of the Order in Corfu the previous month.

Il-ħsieb ta' dan il-ktieb kien xprunat minn taħlita ta' fatturi personali u esterni: il-konnessjonijiet familjari tal-awtur stess mal-Ordni ta' San Mikiel u San Ġorġ, faxxinu kbir lejn l-uniformijiet tal-qorti u l-protokalli storiċi, kif ukoll fattur ewlieni kienet ir-ristrutturazzjoni tal-Palazz tal-Gran Mastru fil-Belt Valletta, fejn ġiet iddedikata kamra speċifika fi ħdan dawk li kienu l-kwartieri tas-sajf.
Mil-lat kronoloġiku, il-ktieb jisvolġi f'Diċembru tal-1818, eżatt wara l-fondazzjoni inizjali tal-Ordni f'Korfù.
