The Pharmaceutical Society of Malawi joined Commonwealth Day celebrations on 9 March in Lilongwe, themed โFostering and Unlocking Opportunities Together for a Prosperous Commonwealth.โ Hosted at the Acting British High Commissionerโs residence, the event showcased CwPAMS achievements in strengthening antimicrobial stewardship through global health partnerships.
Key attendees included Acting British High Commissioner Ben Nicholson, Deputy Minister of Health Victoria Rutter, CEO of the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association, and CPA In-Country Consultant Felix Kaminyoghe. Also recognised were programme team members Chikoh Savieli (CwPAMS fellowship support) and Bridget Kebirungi (SPARC Prescribing App Manager), alongside representatives from the Antimicrobial Resistance National Coordinating Committee.

๐ฐGraduation of Antimicrobial Leadership Fellow Comfort Chayachaya for her outstanding contributions to antimicrobial stewardship.
๐ฐCertificates awarded to programme champions Mirriam Chingeni [Community Pharmacy & Substandard & Forcified Medicines (SFM) Champion] and William Mpute (SFM Champion).
๐ฐAcknowledgement of previous fellows Hope Chadwala, William Mpute, Hanna Kumwenda, Violet Phiri, and Christina Mwinjiwa for their ongoing impact.
The event underscored Malawiโs strong national and international partnerships in combating antimicrobial resistance, improving medicine quality, and strengthening health systems.

Show some love to Mrs. Mirriam Banda!โจ๐๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
Meet Mrs. Mirriam Ngalande Banda is the Coordinator for the Diploma in Pharmacy Program at St. Josephโs College of Health Sciences. She is a dedicated lecturer who teaches Pharmacology and Pharmacy Practice to all pharmacy classes and Pharmacology to NMT students.
Mrs. Banda believes that pharmacy should be more than just โone in the morning, one at noon, and one at night.โ She encourages her students to relate pharmacology to everyday real life scenarios, making learning patient-centered rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Her passion and commitment continue to inspire future health professionals.
