How will the ACBS Programme be Delivered?

The academic year runs from August to June and is divided into two semesters.

Each semester consists of five intensive modules, with each module running for ten days (Tuesday to the following Thursday). Between modules, students are given a two-week break, which is used for assignments.

The Advanced Certificate of Biblical Studies (ACBS) curriculum provides a comprehensive and structured study of the Bible, theology, and ministry over two years. Students will be trained to understand, apply, and teach Scripture faithfully while growing in character and practical ministry skills.

The programme includes:

a. Bible Survey
Survey and in-depth study of both the Old and New Testaments, including focused study of key books such as the Gospel of John and Romans.

b. Hermeneutics (Biblical Interpretation)
Training in how to rightly observe, interpret, and apply Scripture.

c. Systematic Theology
A progressive study of core Christian doctrines, culminating in advanced theological reflection.

d. Christian Worldview
Developing a biblical framework for understanding life, culture, and society.

e. Discipleship & Spiritual Formation
Guided growth in the Christian life, covering the gospel, spiritual disciplines, prayer, and the nature of the church.

f. Biblical Counseling
Applying Scripture to real-life issues, with attention to the local Malawian context.

g. Ministry Skills
Training in teaching, leadership, and effective communication of God’s Word.

h. Evangelism & Missions
Equipping students to proclaim the gospel and engage in local and global mission.

i. English Proficiency
Strengthening language skills to support theological study and communication.

The Advanced Certificate of Biblical Studies (ACBS) is a two-year programme designed to equip church members and church leaders with a strong foundation in Scripture, theology, and ministry. It is intended for those who desire to grow in their understanding of God’s Word and to serve more faithfully and effectively in the local church.

Through structured training and intentional discipleship, the programme seeks not only to develop biblical knowledge and ministry skills, but also to cultivate Christ-like character and spiritual maturity.

Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be able to:

1. Clearly communicate the gospel and articulate their personal testimony with biblical clarity in a variety of settings.
2. Demonstrate growing spiritual maturity, cultivating Christ-like character in both personal life and ministry.
3. Faithfully interpret and apply Scripture using sound principles of observation, interpretation, and application.
4. Exhibit a solid, foundational understanding of the Old and New Testaments.
5. Explain and defend the core doctrines of the Christian faith with biblical support.
6. Apply biblical truth to everyday life, including church, family, and broader society.
7. Offer wise, biblical counsel that speaks meaningfully into real-life issues within the Malawian context.
8. Teach God’s Word effectively in a variety of church and ministry settings.
