📢 ATTENTION: Change of Opening Date for Second Semester
The Mzuzu University Mathematical Science Society wishes to inform all its members and the student body of a change in the opening date for the Second Semester of the 2025/26 Academic Year.
As announced by the Office of the University Registrar, Senate has revised the opening date from Monday, 30th March 2026, to Tuesday, 7th April 2026. This adjustment follows the one-week extension of the examination period in the previous semester.
We encourage all students to take note of this one-week shift and adjust their travel and preparation plans accordingly.
Stay safe and see you all in April!

Introducing: Project Spotlight!
The Mathematical sciences Society Mzuni is excited to launch a new series dedicated to the “Green Intellectuals” who are transforming mathematical knowledge into practical solutions.
Project Spotlight is our official platform for showcasing projects developed by members of our society. From statistical analyses and mathematical models to software tools and research projects, this series will highlight how students are applying mathematics and statistics to address real-world challenges.
Why this series?
📌 To Motivate
To encourage students within and beyond our department to explore the potential of mathematics and statistics.
📌 To Showcase Innovation
To demonstrate how students are applying mathematical and statistical methods to solve practical problems and improve existing ideas.
📌 To Highlight Talent
To give recognition to the meaningful work being done by students in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Mzuzu University.
Stay connected as we begin featuring inspiring projects from students. Together, we continue to show that mathematics and statistics are powerful tools for understanding and shaping the world around us.

The Mathematical sciences Society Mzuni is beaming with pride as we recognize the incredible achievements of our very own scholars within the Mzuzu University - Faculty of Science, Technology and Innovation.
While many brilliant minds were honored by The Academy of Sciences (TAS) and the National Commission for Science and Technology (NCST), we want to give a special shout-out to the pillars of our Department:
Dr. Artz George Luwanda: A Senior Lecturer in Statistics right here in our department. With a PhD in Statistics, his research in dynamical systems modelling and generalized linear models continues to set the standard for scientific leadership and capacity building.
Associate Prof. Elijah M.M. Wanda: Our Faculty's Deputy Dean and an Associate Professor in Chemistry. His work as a research and innovation champion is truly inspiring to every "Green Intellectual".
Mr. Master R.O. Chisale: A Senior Lecturer within our faculty focusing on critical drug discovery research.
We also congratulate our faculty peers, Dr. Russel Chidya (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences - Mzuni) and the other distinguished awardees for their contributions to the scientific community.
To our students: these are the experts guiding your academic journey. Let their success inspire your own research and dedication. Because in this department, Only Maths Counts!
