Pre-Schools Amalika

The Youth Club is organised by the DIs every week thus allowing the youngsters around the Amalika college to meet have fun and expand their knowledge.

Meeting in the Manjolo village with mister Maseya and the community members to inform them about the Community English lessons, the Youth club and the Teacher Training Day. We also talked about the future of the pre-schools in the area.

Amalika Pre-schools

In our first week we managed to visit 8 of the pre-schools surrounding the Amalika Teacher training college. We got a chance to speak to the teachers,the school comity members,and some the chiefs of the villages.The state of the buildings differed from place to place,while some classes were being kept in the local churches other schools didn't have a building at all or had buildings in really bad shapes. The communities seemed very encouraging towards the whole Idea of the preschools, but due to the great poverty found in Malawi some of the schools still can't afford to offer a healthy meal to the kids.All the teachers we have talked to do their work for free and while some get some small support from their neighbors in form of soap or food most of them have to manage on their own. Another thing we found as lacking inside the schools were any teaching materials for the students.In the following weeks we will visit the rest of the schools in order to analyze the situation in all the communities and see what improvements can be done.
