I am excited to announce
The new Stewards of Ecstatic Dance
in Oakland at Sweets Ballroom.

I am stepping down from Ecstatic Dance
so that the Community can come together again,
and Dance can continue to evolve
to the next level.

I want to share that the stewardship of Ecstatic Dance at Sweet’s Ballroom has officially transitioned. The Oakland School for the Arts, as the venue host, independently selected a new team to carry the dance forward. While I was not involved in choosing or passing it on, I trust that this new chapter will continue to honor the spirit of the dance.

The new stewards, Nick, Arula, and Ian, operating under the name Ecstatic Dance Oakland - are dedicated members of this community with a shared vision of integrity, inclusion, and care.

While there will be no dance in Oakland this Sunday or next, the first dance of this new chapter at Sweets Ballroom in Oakland will be Wednesday, June 18th at Sweet’s Ballroom featuring Scott Nice.

(Ecstatic Dance will still happen this Sunday & next in San Francisco.)

Again, Sweets Ballroom in Oakland is closed again this Sunday June 8th, and the following week, reopening on Weds June 18th.

and Dance will remain open without any gaps on Sundays at Sacred Heart Church.
