Nursery - Visit to Penang Adventist Hospital

As part of their ongoing learning about doctors and nurses, Nursery was very lucky to be invited to Penang Adventist Hospital for a very special experience!

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff, who helped make our visit both exciting and educational. The children had the opportunity to explore a real ambulance, create their own nurse's hats, and take part in fun doctor-themed musical games where they helped make a poorly teddy bear feel better.

We also had the chance to meet the hospital's giant teddy mascot, which brought lots of smiles and excitement!

The highlight of the day was meeting Dr Cheong Saou Saou, who kindly prepared a presentation all about her role as a paediatrician. The children were fascinated to learn about her work and loved having the opportunity to ask their own questions.

Reception Exit Point - Up, up and Away

Our Reception children had a wonderful time at the Festival of Floating Fun as part of their Up and Away topic. Over the past few weeks, they have been exploring things that float and fly. They have been working hard to create paper kites, paper helicopters, bubble wands, and taking part in the balloon writing challenge, keepy uppy challenge and stomp rocket activity. Today was the day they got to share their learning with their families. The children proudly flew their handmade kites, blew bubbles, and joined their grown ups in the keepy uppy balloon challenge with lots of different fun tasks. They also revisited all the single letters, digraphs and trigraphs they have been learning, beautifully displayed on balloons. It was a fantastic way to celebrate their hard work and learning journey through an exciting and joyful exit point.

Year 6 Residential - Langkawi

Our Year 6 pupils recently returned from an unforgettable residential trip to Langkawi, packed with adventure, challenge and plenty of fun! Throughout the week, the children stepped out of their comfort zones and embraced a wide range of exciting activities. Highlights included speeding through the mangroves on boat rides, watching majestic eagles swoop down during an eagle-feeding experience, tackling the SkyTrek high ropes and zipline course, splashing around at the water park, and enjoying time together on Langkawi’s beautiful beaches. The residential provided countless opportunities for pupils to develop their independence, resilience and teamwork skills while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Year 4 Entry Point - Young Entrepreuners

Year 4 started their new topic 'Young Entrepreneurs' with a spontaneous group project in which all children were tasked to design, budget and market their own new ‘Ultimate School Backpack’.

Children were required to think carefully about the type of backpack they wanted to design, their target audience, costs and finally the way in which they wanted to promote their backpack.

Most importantly, they all had a chance to work on their collaborative and public speaking skills as they needed to work together and compromise in order to achieve their task, as well as pitch their ideas clearly and enthusiastically to a pair of very scrupulous investors!

Prep Residential - Perhentian Islands

Our Prep students recently had their residential trip to the Perhentian Islands, and what an unforgettable trip it was! From the moment they arrived, the energy was high and the adventures were endless.

The absolute highlight of the trip was heading out into the ocean for an incredible snorkelling safari, where our brave explorers got to swim alongside majestic sea turtles and even spot a few reef sharks up close! When they weren’t busy discovering underwater wonders, the students were mastering the waves by kayaking and swimming in the beautiful turquoise ocean, building their confidence and teamwork with every splash. Back on dry land, everyone was involved in our Survivor team challenges, which included different physical and mental challenges.

From overcoming fears to bonding as a group, these students have shown incredible resilience, curiosity, and team spirit. We are so incredibly proud of how they represented our school.

U9 Penang Games 2026

On Thursday 21st May, we proudly hosted the Under 9 Penang Games at FC Georgetown which brought together 120 students from SCIPS, POWIIS and Uplands for a fantastic day of sport, teamwork and fun.

With the Games open to all Year 3 and 4 students at SCIPS, it was incredible to see 50 students sign up to take part. A brilliant reflection of the enthusiasm and excitement surrounding the event.

After days of heavy rain, we were extremely lucky with the weather, allowing students to fully enjoy a packed day of athletics, teeball and football. Throughout the Games, the students showed outstanding determination, energy and sportsmanship, while supporting and encouraging one another in every activity.

A huge well done to all of the students involved for making the first Under 9 Penang Games such a memorable and successful occasion!

Year 2 Entry Point - Media Magic

Year 2 enjoyed an exciting and immersive experience as they explored how communication can happen without spoken words. The children stepped into a makeshift cinema, complete with snacks and drinks, to watch a selection of silent films and experience storytelling in a completely different way. The children were fascinated by how emotions and stories could still be understood without any words being spoken.

To deepen their understanding of non-verbal communication, the children then played charades by acting out traditional tales without speaking, encouraging their team to interpret and guess the story being performed. Some children found it challenging to rely solely on gestures, actions, and expressions to communicate their ideas, while others embraced the opportunity creatively and confidently.

It was wonderful to see all of the children persevere, experiment, and develop their communication skills in such an engaging and memorable way. We can’t wait to discover more in this unit!

Year 4 Exit Point - Temples, Tombs and Treasures

We have had such a great time learning all about the Ancient Egyptians in our latest IPC topic, ‘Temples, Tombs and Treasures’.

Year 4 have learnt how to write their name in hieroglyphics, make their own cartouche and they had a lot of fun tea staining some paper to draw an Egyptian God of their choice onto. Although there have been some fantastic creative moments in this topic, there has been a lot of intrigue around the historical facts of this time. Year 4 has loved learning all about Howard Carter, the Egyptologist behind the discovery of King Tut’s tomb. They have looked at various sources from that time where they have learned what artefacts and treasures were found to be buried with him. The children then learnt about the mummification process that was used in Ancient Egypt. They found out that only a few colours were used on the death masks and these colours symbolised meanings. The children made their own death masks by attaching cardboard to a plain white mask, used paper mache to strengthen it and painted it with the help of their parents. Once the masks were finished they looked incredible! Finally, Year 4 performed an Egyptian dance with their masks on and enjoyed taking part in a range of Egyptian themed activities with their family members who joined us for the Exit Point. It was a brilliant end to the topic.

Reception Entry Point - Up And Away

Reception children began their exciting new topic "Up and Away" with a fun Entry Point. First, they learned about things that fly and float. Then, they made giant bubbles using straw and string wands and had lots of fun watching them float through the air. They also created paper helicopters and enjoyed seeing them spin as they dropped. Next, they had a turn on the stomp rocket and were thrilled to see how high the rockets flew when they stomped hard. All the pupils designed and made their own colourful paper kites. Each activity brought smiles and lots of learning. We are excited to keep exploring this topic in the weeks ahead!
