Respect:
Respect is a critical part of African culture which is expressed in various forms ranging from greeting, posture, facial expressions, etc
Many parents have failed to pass this age long culture to their children with little or no concern feeling it could be learned anyhow, perhaps, expecting the school to teach the children them also forgetting that is a core responsibility of the parents due to the variability of our cultures.
Historically, respect is a core part of informal training impacted by the family, though it varies from one culture to another but the underlining core principles remains thesame.
However it is important you expose your child(ren) to the ones pertaining to your culture.
Respect can take you or your children to places money or education may struggle to go or attain.
It is necessary we start imbibing that attitude early in order to shape them adequately for the future. Respect is not limited to greeting but also includes...
1.) Keeping quiet when elders are talking
2.) Standing up when they see an elder or older person
3.) Helping an elder when the opportunity arises
4.) Greeting with the necessary posture
5.)Reporting an elder to another elder instead of arguing with him/her
6.) Express themselves without being arrogant.

Note:
You can't teach your children respect if you don't show or have respect for others.

"A child miseducated is a child lost."
- John F. Kennedy (former president of America)

This quote implies that children who don’t undergo proper education from a young age may not be able to grow into productive members of society. Kennedy knew that education is critical to proper child development, and any child without it may be at a disadvantage not only poses a danger to himself but also to the society...

Education is not limited to the activities in the classroom or school enviroment, it includes
* how you talk to your spouse
* how you dress
* how you pray (if you pray at all)
* the movies you watch
* what you do in their presence
* your choice of words while discussing in their presence wether to strangers, relatives or house help.
* your decisions
* your priorities
Etc

The future is tough, we must prepare adequately....

STOP RAISING AN OVER-DEPENDENT GENERATION!!!!
Most parents of today are raising an
"OVER DEPENDENT GENERATION!!!"

1. You cook their food for them so that they can read and enjoy.

2. You help them to wash their clothes and tidy their rooms.

3. You drop them off in school every day by yourself!

4. You lie on their behalf to get them out of trouble.

5. You arrange "expo" to help them pass their exams.

6. You protect them from every danger and difficulties.

7. You prevent them from any form of pain and suffering.

8. You don't want them to suffer like you did as a child.

9. You hustle around while they watch films and play games.

10. They can't go out alone because you're always scared.

11. You take every decision for them, because you're wiser.

12. You go to their schools to fight for them and prove rights.

13. You defend them even when they're wrong and at fault.

14. You can not stand seeing them starve or go hungry for once.

15. You fight against those who try to correct them.

....YOU ARE BUSY RAISING AN OVER- DEPENDENT GENERATION !!!

You think you are showing them LOVE ?

*SORRY, YOU'RE WRONG* !!!!

By the time you're no longer there and they face real life challenges, they will become helpless !!!

At that stage, they will realise the havoc you have done to them and CURSE YOU !!!

STOP RAISING AN OVER-DEPENDENT GENERATION !!!

Allow these children to face realities of life !!!
