If youโre a parent or a teacher, you know that sometimes emotions get the best of you. Somehow children can really push those buttons you didnโt know you had. And before you know it, you holler from the top of your lungs.๐๐๐๐
Youโre not alone in doing that, and your feelings of parental frustration are normal. The good news is that you can change the way you talk to your children, switching from a yelling monologue to a respectful dialogue.
Why?
Because recent research points out thatย yelling makes children more aggressive, physically and verbally. Yelling in general, no matter what the context, is an expression of anger. It scares children and makes them feel insecure.
If yelling at children is not a good thing, yelling that comes with verbal putdowns and insults can be qualified as emotional abuse. Itโs been shown to have long-term effects, like anxiety, low self-esteem, and increased aggression.
It also makes children more susceptible to bullying since their understanding of healthy boundaries and self-respect are skewed.

The first of this workshop for teachers held in February and I extensively shared a number of reasons why kids participate in sexual bullying.ย
Of course, more workshops on bullying will be scheduled in the coming weeks. It's paramount that parents and educators make efforts toย create a climateย where sexual bullying is recognized as disrespectful and inappropriate.ย Ignorance is not an excuse.

For schools in Asaba, Delta State...
๐๐๐๐๐If we, teachers, are to remain essential in our learnersโ lives, we have to expand our comfort zone and challenge our own practice โ it can be really fun to do so! We really have to make the effort to walk our talk and show learners that it is possible to cope with the demands of our modern lives and still develop as human beings and work towards a better future here and now. I do believe that our pedagogy cannot be separated from who we are as peopleโฆ Therefore, we have to become everything we want our learners to become, and in order to do so we have to ask ourselves which skills we need to develop further and how.๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ฃ๐ฃCall 08188881819 to book a session for your school.
