Achalla Ururamma Day 2025: A Celebration of Culture, Unity, Leadership and Community Service

The people of Achalla Village in Umuchu, Aguata Council Area have celebrated the 2025 edition of Achalla Ururamma ceremony to mark their mass return.

The triennial event held at the Community Primary School Field, Achalla Umuchu was aimed at showcasing the beautiful culture of Ndi Achalla in an atmosphere of conviviality, and unity in celebration of massive progress recorded in Achalla.

In his opening remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Ogbuehi Chukwuebuka Uzoezie stated that Achalla is the place to be, assuring everyone of a pleasant experience for the two-day event.

Presenting his address of welcome, the Chairman, Achalla Representative Assembly, ARA, Chief Chimezie Ikeh noted that the ceremony has become a platform to recognize and honour their heroes and heroines who have distinguished themselves in the service of the community through whose efforts Achalla has become the envy of other villages in Umuchu and beyond.

"The embers of the great exploits of the incumbent administration in Achalla are fanned by these distinguished men and women", Chief Ikeh maintained, adding that the community would extend the same gesture to any man or woman from the community who would undertake any notable and significant sacrifice towards the sustainable development of Achalla in the future.

Continuing, Chief Ikeh noted that Achalla is the most peaceful, and most united village with the lowest poverty rate in Umuchu, pointing out that the village produced the highest food in 2025 through the fertiliser and other farming resources provided by High Chief Abraham Ikechukwu Otti and Chief Engr. Kizito Onunkwo.

Unveiling the 2nd edition of Ururamma Magazine, Chief Ebere Akanonu appealed to all to support community development activities for the overall good of all.

In a vote of thanks, the host of Achalla Ururamma celebration 2025, Chief Ebuka Samuel Chukwuonye expressed delight with the turnout of Achalla men and women to the cultural festival and assured that the second day would be more memorable.

The Day 1 of Achalla Ururamma celebration which was witnessed by the President General of Umuchu Improvement Union Representative Assembly UIURA, Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa; the Isi Obi Achalla, Chief Dr. Emmanuel Nnopu; and Double Chief Oliver Asiegbu; among others featured cultural dance competition by the ten different Nludi groups in Achalla; Njima dance; award of Adadioramma of Achalla; leadership awards to past leaders in Achalla; wrestling bout; and Ada Achalla Beauty Pageant.

Inyom Alor Worldwide Honour Deserving Women in Their 2nd Edition of Women Summit, 2026

Alor community women, in Idemili South Council Area of Anambra State, Nigeria have been charged to remain united as one community of purposeful women in championing the development of their community and protecting the course of women.

The President General, Inyom Alor Worldwide, Lady Ifeoma Uzokwe gave the charge at the 2nd edition of Inyom Alor Worldwide Summit, 2026 held at St. Mary's Catholic Church Field, Alor.

The event, themed: "Nwanyi A Nona Nkiti Makana Nwanyi bu Ife", meaning , women should not be idle because women are valuable, attracted a massive attendance of women from the six villages in Alor who paraded the arena in their new uniform with joy.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Ikechukwu Anichebe in his opening remark commended Alor women for their unity of purpose while appreciating the Woman Leader for effectively galvanising the women to impact the community positively.

In her address of welcome, the President General, Inyom Alor Worldwide, Lady Ifeoma Uzokwe reiterated the primary objective of establishing the Women Wing of Anambra State Association of Town Union, Alor chapter, which is to champion the course of women in their respective communities and provide a credible voice, support, and identify women who have distinguished themselves as role models within and beyond Alor.

Lady Uzokwe maintained that the group has continued to engage critical stakeholders to ensure that Alor women are properly guided in service, hard work, inclusion, and unity to lay strong foundations for the sustainable development of Alor.

"We have identified strategic development projects aimed at impacting not only the women but the entire Alor community, including installation of CCTV surveillance system at Nkwo Alor; construction of security gate at Nkwo Alor; and the establishment of a "fruit yard/corner" to promote healthy living and local commerce in the community among others", Lady Uzokwe noted.

Delivering a lecture on proper parenting , Mrs Cordelia Umeh described parents as stewards assigned to look after their children, pointing out that how to take care of the children have been laid down in the Bible, hence all parents must give account of their stewardship to God.

The 2nd Speaker, Dr. Chika Ezeudo spoke on "The Keys to a Happy Marriage" and harped on the need for women to be epitomes of humility and respect in their homes as virtuous women for their girls to emulate.

"You cannot call your husbands Baby, Honey, Sweet, Mine, etc and fight him at the slightest provocation", Dr. Umeh stressed, adding that wives should be submissive to their husbands, while husbands should love their wives unconditionally.

In their separate remarks, the Mayor of Idemili South Council Area, Dr. Amaka Obi; the President General, Alor People's Assembly, High Chief Emma Ojukwu; and the Father of the Day, Chief Clement Aniefuna commended the organisers for their unity of purpose. While congratulating the awardees who have been singled out to be honoured, they urged them to continue to show that excellence that has distinguished them among others .

Responding, the Mother of Day, Lolo Chinyere Ikenua; Secretary, Inyom Alor, Mrs Chiamaka Igwebuike and some awardees, including Evang. Lady Ngozi Afam-Mbachu, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi, and Lolo Stella Anulika expressed joy to be part of the historic celebration, promising to do more for the progress of their community.

Highlights were the parade of women by the six villages, and awards to deserving women of Alor.

Igwe Okoli of Ndiokpalaeze Honours Dr. Nwadinobi As Ada Ugo Okwaeze of Ndiokpalaeze

The traditional ruler of Ndiokpalaeze, Igwe Fredrick Chidozie Okoli, Okwaeze IV of Ndiokpalaeze in conjunction with Okwaeze in-Council and Ndiokpalaeze Improvement Union (NIU), have unanimously conferred on the Executive Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Awka, Dr Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi with the Chieftaincy title of Ada Ugo Okwaeze of Ndiokpalaeze.

The prestigious title dated 26th December, 2025 according to the royal father of Ndiokpalaeze, Igwe Okoli was in recognition of her meritorious contributions to the development of humanity and educational development in Ndiokpalaeze in particular and Anambra State at large.

While decorating Dr. Nwadinobi with the Chieftaincy title at the ASUBEB Headquarters, Awka, Igwe Okoli who was accompanied by the traditional ruler of Umumbo, Igwe Simeon Ikechukwu Chidubem, the Mbo of Umumbo noted that Ndiokpalaeze had no public secondary school until recently when Dr. Nwadinobi facilitated the provision of a functional public secondary School in the town, furnished with standard learning resources and a conducive learning environment.

"We cannot talk about secondary education in Ndiokpalaeze today without mentioning Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi who ensured that a small community without influential personalities received her fair share of educational resources from the State government. This is the first time Ndiokpalaeze as a community is conferring a non indigene with a traditional chieftaincy title, hence Dr. Nwadinobi has become a Cabinet Chief of Ndiokpalaeze and a key stakeholder in the community development", he announced.

Igwe Okoli prayed God to grant long life, good health and greater wisdom to Dr. Nwadinobi to continue to pilot the affairs of ASUBEB.

Responding, the ASUBEB Chairman, Dr. Nwadinobi expressed gratitude to Igwe Ndiokpalaeze for the honour which she described as unexpected, adding that it would serve as a source of motivation to do more in ensuring that education and learning are available for all children in Anambra State.

Dr. Nwadinobi noted that the State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR has shown uncommon interest in providing basic education for every child in Anambra State irrespective of the parents location or economic status, and has assured that he will make public schools in Anambra State the centre of learning.

She observed that the Governor's approval for a public secondary school to be cited in Ndiokpalaeze which was implemented by ASUBEB was to ensure that no child in that community is left behind in accessing secondary education on graduation from primary six for any reason.

Decoration of the ASUBEB Chairman with her Chieftaincy regalia and presentation of certificate of conferment were the high points of the ceremony.

Igwe Godson Ezechukwu of Umuchu Celebrates 22nd Ofala Festival

The culture and tradition of Umuchu Community in Aguata Council Area came alive as Igwe Godson Ezechukwu celebrated his 22nd Ofala Festival in grand style amidst pomp and pageantry.

The event, held at the Crystal Palace, Umuchu, featured the elevation of deserving Chiefs to High Chief status, installation of new Chiefs and Ndi Ichie who will be working with the traditional ruler in maintaining peace and in moving the community forward.

Addressing Umuchu from the throne, the traditional ruler of Umuchu, Igwe Godson Ezechukwu, represented by the Palace Secretary, Prof. Chief Echezona Ifejirika sued for peace and unity among members of the community, and urged the title holders to uphold tradition, dignity, and harmony in Umuchu.

Delivering the welcome address, the President General of Umuchu Improvement Union Representative Assembly, UIURA, Hon. Ifeanyi Emegwa, represented by the Secretary, Hon. Frank Uduonu thanked God for the gift of life for both their royal father, the cabinet Chiefs and the entire people of Umuchu, while recounting the remarkable and progressive initiatives in recent times, such as the maiden Ofala Carnival celebration to herald the Ofala festival, human capital development and empowerment programmes for Umuchu sons and daughters, adding that UIURA under his watch will priotize the unity and security of Umuchu with other development initiatives that would bring better life to the people.

In their separate responses after their elevation to the rank of High Chiefs of Umuchu, Abraham Ikechukwu Otti (Ijele Umuchu ji eje mba); Okwudili Otti (Nwarupuoaku); Fidel Ononuju (Eziokwudaa osimili); and Johnbosco Onunkwo (Akaekpuchionwa) reaffirmed their commitment to the peace and progress of Umuchu, while promising to remain vanguards of Umuchu community development.

Also speaking, the new Chiefs including Dr. Anthony Ikenna Obele, Ebuka Samuel Chukwuonye, Chimezie Ikeh, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, Engr. Nnamdi Kizito Onunkwo; Tochukwu Ezelibe, and Lady Kate Ezenwajiaku among others promised to continue the legacy of bringing progress to Umuchu, while upholding the community’s rich culture and tradition.

Congratulating Igwe Umuchu on his 22nd year on the throne, Ide Akwaeke, High Chief Ikenna Okafor extolled the royal father of Umuchu for what he described as an unprecedented and massive developments in the town, which he said is a testament of the peace and unity in Umuchu as he wished him a long life in good health.

The 22nd Ofala festival of Igwe Umuchu, themed: "Umuchu First", was graced by high profile dignitaries and top government functionaries including the Mayor of Aguata Council Area, Prince Dr. Chibueze Ofobike, and some APGA stalwarts who came to felicitate with their National chairman Chief Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa on his Chieftaincy installation, some traditional rulers, captains of industries, among others.

Homages to Igwe Umuchu and cultural displays added colour to the event.
