I want to make them feel.

That was my primary goal when I was planning Beyond Labels. Emotions make you think and then, act. If I can make these teenagers feel my words, my poems and my lectures, then I did a good job.

I did that and more. We talked, we played games that connected to their emotions, we discussed how teenagers could be biased or bigoted, and how to challenge it.
Hearing these kids freely interact and genuinely ask questions was the highlight of my day. We erased ideas and formed new ones. A seed was sown and I look forward to these children growing into adults that are not controlled by bigotry.

I was the happiest person at the end of the day. In fact, I kept whispering, "Thank you, Jesus" over and over. It wasn't just a two-hour event. It was intentionality, soul and pure art! And I was right at the centre of it all. Wow.

To the team that made the dream, Anita Okeke, Eby P. Onyekwena and Emmanuel Charles, thank you!
To D**e Chukwumerije, thank you.
To Simply Poetry Foundation and Ford Foundation, thank you.
To the management of St. John Vianney Science College for partnering with me on this project, thank you.

Officially a BBPC alumna! 😊

Two weeks ago, I was having the time of my life in Abuja, all thanks to the Building Bridges Project for Creatives which was organised by the Simply Poetry Foundation and funded by Ford Foundation.

There, I bonded with Creatives from across the country and learnt how to be a socially conscious artiste.

In the end, we were highly encouraged to organise a step-down project in our different communities and that is what I'll be doing tomorrow!
In the most fun, soulful and educative way, I'll be teaching teenagers what bigotry, bias and tribalism means and how they can challenge it. We'll enjoy poetry, music and play really cool games.

Stay tuned for updates because it's going to be good!!! 🤭

P.S - Eby P. Onyekwena made my gorgeous flyer and boy, was she a lifesaver!

It's Creative o'clock and we're back!!

It is no longer a secret that people are trying to connect to their roots through learning to speak their language. If you're among the people that still think that being ignorant of one's mother tongue is normal, Madam Otuọgadị is displeased with you! 😅

In the last episode, Madam Otuọgadị judged you with fire and brimstone, right?
This is a reminder that she's just human; a human late to trends 😅.

So, enjoy this version of her before she returns to judging you in the next episode!

Be warned!!! Pronounce correctly or Madam Otuọgadị will come for you! 😅
