DID YOU KNOW?
Nigeria's first university was established in 1948.
The University of Ibadan, originally known as University College Ibadan, was founded to provide higher education opportunities for Nigerians at a time when access to university education was limited.
Over the years, it has produced distinguished leaders, professors, scientists, medical professionals, writers, and innovators who have contributed significantly to the growth and development of Nigeria and the world.
This fact reminds us that great institutions are built on a commitment to learning, discipline, and excellence. Every student sitting in a classroom today has the potential to become a future leader, inventor, entrepreneur, or changemaker.
At Golden Light Schools, we believe that education is more than passing examinations. It is about building character, developing critical thinking skills, and preparing students to make a positive impact in society.
Today's learners are tomorrow's leaders.

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti (1900–1978) was a Nigerian teacher, women’s rights activist, and political leader from Abeokuta.
She was one of the first Nigerian women to receive Western education and later became a strong voice for the empowerment of women in society.
She is best known for leading movements against unfair taxes imposed on market women during the colonial era. Through the Abeokuta Women’s Union, she mobilized thousands of women to protest oppression and demand fair treatment, forcing authorities to listen to their demands. Her activism played a major role in shaping early women’s political participation in Nigeria.
Beyond women’s rights, she was also part of Nigeria’s wider struggle for independence from British colonial rule. She spoke out against injustice, encouraged education for girls and women, and pushed for political inclusion of women in decision-making.
She was the mother of Fela Kuti, the famous Afrobeat musician, and her legacy continues as one of the most fearless women in Nigerian history, remembered for courage, resistance, and standing up for justice.

True education is more than just writing on the board and speaking to a class; it is more about ensuring that the young minds truly understand what they are being taught.
Research has shown that young children learn most effectively when they are actively engaged in the learning process— THROUGH PLAY, EXPLORATION, AND HANDS-ON EXPERIENCES.
When children can see, touch, manipulate, and interact with learning materials, they develop a deeper understanding of concepts while building creativity, confidence, and critical thinking skills.
That is why here at Golden Light School, we go beyond traditional teaching methods. Our approach to early years education combines purposeful play with hands-on learning experiences designed to spark curiosity and encourage discovery.
We create an environment where our preschool learners actively participate in their learning journey, enabling them to develop a solid understanding of every concept because when children are engaged, learning becomes meaningful, enjoyable, and lasting.
