What are GLANDS?
Glands are organs that produce special chemicals called hormones.

What are HORMONES? Hormones are chemical Messengers carried by blood. They control growth,sugar level, mood, and puberty.

5 Important Glands.

1. Gland: pituitary "Master Gland".
Location: Brain.
Hormone: Growth Hormone.
Main job: Makes you grow tall.
2. Gland: Thyroid
Location: Neck
Hormone: Thyroxine
Main job: Controls energy and metabolism
3. Gland: Pancreas
Location: Below stomach
Hormone: Insulin
Main job: Lowers blood sugar after eating
4. Gland: Adrenal
Location: Above kidneys
Hormone: Adrenaline
Main job: Prepares body for danger/fear
5. Gland: Ovaries/Tested
Location: Reproductive organs
Hormone: Oestrogen/Testosterone
Main job: Male/female features at puberty.
