This topic has been an ongoing debate.
Every year, thousands of Nigerian students graduate with hope, ambition, and degrees in hand. But many soon realize a harsh reality, a degree alone is no longer sufficient in today’s rapidly changing economy.
This is not to undermine Nigerian universities. Our institutions still offer valuable academic foundations, discipline, and professional pathways in many fields.
However, a growing gap exists between classroom learning and the actual demands of the modern workplace.
Employers today look beyond certificates.
They seek practical skills, digital literacy, communication, adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and hands-on experience with current tools.
Unfortunately, many graduates leave school without enough exposure to these essential skills.
That’s why many talented young people struggle to find jobs, remain underpaid, or feel stuck after graduation. The issue isn’t intelligence; it’s alignment.
Universities award degrees. But careers are built through education, relevant skills, experience, and lifelong learning.
At IvoryLearn, we are working to close that gap with practical digital skills programs designed especially for women who want to grow, earn more, and compete confidently in today’s economy.
Our training includes:
• Virtual Assistance
• Content Creation
• Community Management
• Social Media Management
• Career Development Skills
• Business Growth Tools
• Resume & Employability Support, etc.
Our programs emphasize practical learning, confidence-building, career readiness, and real-world application, not just theory.
The future belongs to graduates who combine academic qualifications with market-ready skills.
This isn’t about blaming universities; it’s about evolving with the times.
If you are a student, graduate, parent, or working professional, the real question is:
How do we prepare ourselves not just to earn degrees but to succeed in building careers?
At IvoryLearn, we believe women deserve both.
Dear Mums,

“Over the weekend, I watched the conversation around Tosin Eniolorunda’s comments catch fire.
The founder of Moniepoint claimed he had over 500 positions he couldn’t fill because he simply couldn’t find qualified Nigerians. He called many “unemployable.”
While that word stings, I have to be honest: He’s right.
In my years of direct hiring for various brands, I have seen the same pattern. It is a hard truth to swallow, but “unemployable” isn’t an indictment of potential—it’s a reflection of a massive alignment gap.
The reality is that our educational system is still operating in a world that no longer exists. While the global ecosystem has pivoted to Data, AI, and Automation, the average Nigerian student is still being graded on outdated courses that haven’t changed in decades.
We are producing graduates who are brilliant at passing exams but lack the appropriate knowledge to thrive in a modern economy. Simply being a graduate means almost nothing today if your skills don’t translate to a digital-first world.
However, there is a silver lining I see every single day. The gender lines that once kept women out of high-growth sectors are dissolving.
Women are no longer waiting for the system to catch up. They are:
• Transitioning into tech at record speeds.
• Mastering modern tools and trends.
• Proving that the “talent gap” can be bridged with the right intent.
We didn’t start IvoryLearn just to offer more courses. We started it to change the narrative. If the world is moving toward specialized technology and Nigerians are being left behind, we have a responsibility to build the bridge.
We are on a mission to help women move from unemployable to indispensable.
We don’t just teach; we prepare you for the global stage where AI and data are the languages of success.
The jobs are there. The question is: Are you ready to be the person who can fill them?”
