What if the smallest detail at a crime scene could change the course of justice?
During our recent guest lecture on Forensic Science: The Science of Investigating & Solving Crimes, Dr. Abiodun Osiyemi, our very own Director, Board of Governors at Dowen College, and a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Forensic Programmes and DNA Studies (CEFPADS), showed us exactly how even the tiniest piece of evidence can shape the outcome of an investigation. For a moment, it truly felt like we had stepped into a real-life crime scene.
In a world where crimes are committed daily, where innocent people can be falsely accused and the guilty sometimes walk free due to lack of evidence, forensic science becomes more than just a subject; it becomes a voice for the truth.
One of the most fascinating lessons we learned was that evidence does not have to be dramatic to be powerful.
A single fingerprint.
A strand of hair.
The smallest trace left behind.
What may seem insignificant can completely change the direction of a case. A crime scene is not chaos; it is a puzzle waiting to be solved and forensic science provides the tools to piece it together with accuracy and integrity.
The session revealed how biology, chemistry, and technology quietly work behind the scenes to uncover facts. But beyond the lab techniques and investigative tools, we learned something even more important: patience, precision, and ethical responsibility are non-negotiable in the pursuit of justice.
And perhaps the most practical takeaway? If you ever find yourself near a crime scene, avoid touching anything. Evidence is delicate. Contaminating it even unintentionally can alter investigations or even implicate you.
Protecting a scene means protecting the truth. Covering your head, mouth, hands, and avoiding contact are small actions that make a significant difference.
Forensic science proves to us that justice is not built on assumptions; it is built on evidence. And every detail matters.

1. This year, we turned 28 and what a remarkable journey it has been.😊
2. For the first time in our history, we hosted our school drama, Morountodun as an in-house theatre performance.
Traditionally staged at rented theatre centres, this year we transformed our own school stage into a full theatre space, welcoming:
* Over 10 primary and secondary schools
* More than 300 guests
It was really a bold step that showcased our creativity, growth, and excellence in the arts.
3. We received multiple awards and recognitions for:
* Outstanding academic performance
* Excellence in co-curricular activities
4. This year brought multiple collaborations, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners and sponsors for believing in our vision and supporting our mission.
5. We proudly launched a new set of graduates into the global academic space, with students earning prestigious study opportunities from top universities in Nigeria and abroad.
