It is becoming increasingly clear where the numerous loans secured by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are being channelled.

At a time when millions of Nigerians are battling economic hardship, rising inflation, insecurity, poor healthcare services, and inadequate infrastructure, government resources appear to be prioritised for the purchase of official vehicles for APC state women leaders.

This development raises serious concerns about the government's spending priorities. Nigerians are asking critical questions: Why are scarce borrowed funds being used for political patronage while hospitals lack essential equipment, schools remain underfunded, roads are in deplorable condition, and citizens struggle daily to survive?

The people deserve transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public funds. Every loan obtained in the name of Nigerians should be invested in projects that directly improve the welfare of citizens, not in luxuries or political rewards for a privileged few.

The government must explain its priorities and ensure that public resources are used for the benefit of all Nigerians.

DEMOCRACY DAY: A TIME FOR REFLECTION, NOT JUST CELEBRATION

As Nigerians mark another Democracy Day, we must ask ourselves a sincere question: What exactly are we celebrating?

Democracy is not merely about conducting elections; it is about ensuring the security, welfare, and prosperity of the people. Yet, insecurity continues to threaten lives and livelihoods across the nation. Crime, violence, and fear do not discriminate—they affect people regardless of religion, ethnicity, political affiliation, or social status.

At the same time, the economic realities facing millions of are becoming increasingly difficult. The cost of living continues to rise, businesses are struggling, and even the middle class is feeling the weight of economic hardship. If those who once enjoyed relative comfort are now lamenting, one can only imagine the daily challenges faced by the average citizen.

Democracy should guarantee not only the right to vote but also the right to live in safety, dignity, and hope. Therefore, this Democracy Day should serve as a moment of sober reflection and renewed commitment by leaders at all levels to address the pressing issues confronting our nation.

Nigeria's democracy will be truly worthy of celebration when every citizen can live without fear, earn a decent livelihood, and confidently look forward to a better future.

May our democracy evolve from a promise into a reality that benefits all Nigerians.
