DID / DIDN’T + BASE FORM
But what exactly is a base form?
A base form is simply the original and simplest form of a verb.
For example:
Go → base form
Went → past form
Eat → base form
Ate → past form
Sleep → base form
Slept → past form
This matters because many grammar mistakes happen when people don’t know the original form of the verb.
For example:
❌ I didn’t went
✅ I didn’t go
Why?
Because after “didn’t,” the verb must return to its base form.
Learn the root.Master the sentence. That’s the shortcut.

Have you ever said things like👇🏽
❌ I didn’t went there
❌ She didn’t slept well
❌ They didn’t ate it
It sounds normal, right? But here’s the mistake:
Once you use did or didn’t, the verb after it must return to its simplest form.
DID / DIDN’T + BASE VERB
So instead of:
❌ I didn’t went
Say:
✅ I didn’t go
Why?
Because go is the base form.Went is already past tense. And “did” has already carried the past for you.
That means the next verb must stay plain.
Learn the formula, and you’ll start catching these mistakes yourself, even in future sentences.

The "Always" vs. "Right Now" Secret
Think of these two phrases like two different toys. One is a toy you play with every single day. The other is a toy you are holding in your hand right this second.
1. "I go" (The "Always" Toy)
When you say "I go," you are talking about something you do over and over again. It is a habit. It is part of your life. You are not necessarily doing it this very second.
"I go to school." (This means you are a student. You went yesterday, you go today, you will go tomorrow. But right now? Right now you might be eating ice cream on the couch!)
"I go to bed at 8 PM." (This is your routine.)
2. "I am going" (The "Right Now" Toy)
When you add that sticky little "-ing" to the end of the word, everything changes. "I am going" means your feet are moving right now. It is happening in this exact moment.
"I am going to school." (This means you have your backpack on, you are walking out the door, and if I look out the window, I can see you walking down the street!)
