Did you know some English words are secretly twins in disguise?

They’re called ANAGRAMS: words formed by rearranging letters to create a completely different word.

Contronyms are words that are their own opposite. Can you imagine? I think at this rate, English likes confusing people for fun. 😂

Basically one word can mean one thing and also mean the complete opposite.

Examples of Contronyms
1. Dust
* To remove dust: She dusted the table.
* To add dust: The baker dusted the cake with sugar.

2. Sanction
* Approval : The project received official sanction.
* Punishment/penalty: The country faced sanctions.

3. Clip
* To attach: Clip the papers together.
* To cut: Clip your nails.

4. Oversight
* Careful supervision: The manager has oversight of the staff.
* A mistake from not noticing: It was an oversight.

5. Left
* Departed: He left the house.
* Remaining :Only two pieces are left.

6. Fast
* Moving quickly: She runs fast.
* Fixed in place: Hold fast to your beliefs.

7. Weather
* To withstand: They weathered the storm.
* To wear away: The rocks were weathered by rain.

And then you find some people who tell you English is easy peasy, which English exactly?😂

Now this is one funny scenario that's happened in every Nigerian home.😂😂😂

Parent: 5 times 2
Child: Confused and just says 8.

Parent proceeds to get slippers for brain rebooting, or gives a resounding slap at the back to correct their senses. 😂 How many of us are guilty of this?😂😂

But truly, teaching children needs a calm hearts, deep breaths, and LOTS of patience. Every child learns differently; and that reminder saves the day more than anything else.

Because at the end of the chaos, it’s not about stress, it’s about understanding and growth.
Let’s choose patience over pressure; even when homework is testing everyone in the house

English becomes hard when children are taught to memorize instead of understand.

A child who enjoys learning:
✔ Learns faster
✔ Participates confidently
✔ Retains information better

For the longest time, I’ve struggled with showing up consistently on Instagram.
