𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗲𝗹 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮, 𝗥𝗡, 𝗠𝗚𝗗𝗛 𝗜 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗥𝗠𝗢) 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻, successfully presented his study entitled “Developing an Integrated Multi-Hazard Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Action Plan for Coastal Barangays of Balayan, Batangas: Addressing The Effects of Typhoon, Storm Surge, Flood, Tsunami, and Liquefaction Risks.”

The study emphasized the increasing vulnerability of coastal communities in Balayan to multiple hydrometeorological and geological hazards, highlighting the need for a comprehensive and integrated disaster risk reduction and management framework. Through the proposed action plan, the study aimed to strengthen preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery mechanisms for at-risk coastal barangays, while promoting community resilience and sustainable local governance.

During the presentation, the importance of hazard-based planning, vulnerability assessment, and inter-agency coordination was underscored to ensure effective implementation of disaster risk reduction strategies. The proposed interventions reflected a proactive and multi-sectoral approach in addressing the complex risks posed by typhoons, storm surge, flooding, tsunami, and liquefaction hazards in coastal areas.

The panel likewise provided recommendations for further refinement of the study, particularly in strengthening technical consistency, prioritization of vulnerable communities, alignment with existing DRRM policies and land use plans, and enhancement of operational feasibility and implementation mechanisms. The study was recognized as a relevant contribution toward advancing disaster resilience and adaptive capacity within the Municipality of Balayan.

𝐌𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐆𝐢𝐥 𝐐. 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐳𝐚, Project Development Officer II from the Department of Education Central Office, successfully presented his study entitled “𝘔𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪-𝘏𝘢𝘻𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺: 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘔𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘓𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘙𝘪𝘴𝘬𝘴.”

The study highlighted the urgent need to strengthen disaster preparedness, flood mitigation strategies, and public health response mechanisms in Malabon City, particularly in addressing recurring flooding incidents and associated health risks such as leptospirosis and environmental contamination. The proposed action plan emphasized the importance of integrating multi-sectoral preparedness measures, community-based interventions, and public health protection strategies to enhance urban resilience and disaster response capacity.

During the presentation, the panel recognized the relevance and significance of the study in supporting local disaster risk reduction and management efforts, especially in highly vulnerable urban communities frequently affected by flooding and water-borne diseases. The study was commended for its comprehensive approach in integrating environmental management, health preparedness, and disaster response planning.

The panel also provided technical comments and recommendations to further strengthen the operational feasibility, implementation mechanisms, and sustainability of the proposed action plan. Particular attention was given to improving interagency coordination, strengthening public health intervention strategies, refining implementation timelines, and ensuring alignment with existing DRRM and local government operational frameworks.

Overall, the presentation demonstrated the researcher’s commitment to advancing disaster resilience, environmental protection, and public health preparedness within vulnerable communities.

𝐌𝐬. 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐑. 𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐚, 𝐑𝐍, 𝐋𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌𝐎 𝐈𝐈 of the City of Calamba, successfully presented her study entitled “𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘔𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪-𝘏𝘢𝘻𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘢 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘓𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘯𝘢: 𝘔𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘺𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘯 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘴, 𝘍𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘋𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘙𝘪𝘴𝘬𝘴” The study highlighted the increasing vulnerability of Calamba City to hydrometeorological hazards and the corresponding public health concerns affecting vulnerable communities.

The presentation demonstrated a comprehensive and community-based approach in addressing disaster risk reduction and management through prevention, preparedness, response, rehabilitation, and recovery interventions. The proposed action plan likewise emphasized the integration of public health considerations, particularly dengue and post-flood health risks, within the local DRRM framework.

The panel further recommended refinement of technical discussions, validation of supporting data and references, and strengthening of institutional coordination mechanisms to improve the overall quality, applicability, and sustainability of the proposed action plan.
