Exploring Culture and Heritage: A First-Year Exhibit Welcoming the College Journey
To mark the transition into college life, first-year senior high school students proudly hosted a cultural exhibit that showcased the traditions, history, and uniqueness of various Philippine regions. Held in a creatively transformed school hallway and classroom space, the exhibit was a vibrant celebration of Filipino identity and a symbol of the students’ enthusiasm as they begin their academic journey.
Each booth was thoughtfully crafted to represent a particular region, such as Cebu and Siquijor, highlighting their historical landmarks, famous personalities, delicacies, festivals, and tourist attractions. The displays were filled with colorful visuals, informative descriptions, and even miniature props—clearly the result of teamwork and dedicated effort from each group.
One standout area of the event was an activity corner focused on international awareness. Here, students participated in fun games like matching flags with their respective countries, promoting both cultural appreciation and global knowledge. Visitors, including fellow students and faculty members, engaged actively in these interactive segments.
The venue was further brought to life with creative decorations such as hand-crafted buntings made from recycled newspapers. These festive details added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere, showing how resourcefulness can enhance creativity.
More than just an academic task, this exhibit was a meaningful moment of exploration and connection. It allowed students to dive into the richness of Filipino culture while preparing themselves for the diverse world of college education. It also served as a reminder that understanding one’s roots is a strong foundation for growth
