June 24, 2026 | Wednesday Chapel Service
The Silliman University Divinity School community gathered for its Wednesday Chapel Service, reflecting on the message “In the Pot of Formation” delivered by Rev. Magnolia Nova V. Mendoza, grounded in Luke 10:25–37.
Through the parable of the Good Samaritan, the community was reminded that formation is a continual process through which God shapes hearts, deepens compassion, and calls disciples into lives of faithful service and neighborly love.
The chapel service also marked the giving of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Certificates, recognizing students who completed their CPE journey. A special sharing of experiences highlighted the challenges, insights, and transformative lessons gained through pastoral ministry in diverse contexts, celebrating God’s ongoing work in forming compassionate and effective servant-leaders.

Faculty Member Publishes a Book on Creation Theology
The Divinity School Koinonia celebrates with Rev. Lope B. Robin, ThD for the release of his authored book: “A Theology of Creation: Towards an Ecological Theology from a Filipino Reformed Perspective.” Publisher: Ekpyrosis Press LLC, Michigan, USA
This book constructs an ecological theology from a Filipino Reformed perspective in response to environmental crises exemplified by Typhoon Ondoy. It critically engages John Calvin’s anthropocentric doctrine of creation while reclaiming liberative elements within his thought. Dialogue with Sallie McFague’s metaphor of the world as God’s body and a postcolonial reading of biblical texts provides theological correction. Indigenous Filipino earth-based spiritualities, particularly among the Igorots and Bagobos, offer indispensable resources for contextual theology. The work proposes a Filipino Reformed ecological theology grounded in human sinfulness, creation’s vulnerability, and redemption through reconciliation, arguing for a transformed human identity from dominator to dependent member of a cosmic community. (From the Book Overview)
This work not only reflects the Divinity School Faculty’s academic competence but also their selfless dedication and unwavering commitment to theological education. Truly, a testament to faith, scholarship, and service.

Faculty Member Attends the 10th Conference and Workshop of the Forum of Asian Theological Librarians
The 10th Conference and Workshop of the Forum of Asian Theological Librarians (ForATL) was held last April 13 to 15, 2026 at the Aletheia University in Taipei, with this year’s theme: “Theological Libraries and Research: Collaborations Between Librarians and Researchers.” The conference was attended by twenty-four (24) participants from India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
ForATL, established in 1991, is a regional network that connects theological librarians across Asia. It aims to strengthen collaboration, facilitate resource sharing, and support professional development in theological librarianship. Through consultations, training programs, and publications, the organization continues to promote the vital role of libraries in advancing theological education and scholarship throughout the region. ForATL maintains strong partnerships with the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) and the Foundation for Theological Education in Asia and the Pacific (FTEAP).
This conference was attended by SUDS Faculty member and Theological Librarian, Rev. Arnel Z. Faller, who is also the ForATL Executive Committee Convenor since 2018, and who was one of the core persons responsible in organizing the event. This conference resonates all efforts of SUDS to provide quality theological education for the SUDS faculty and students. This conference also highlights our deep-rooted connection with other seminary schools in Asia.
