CAFS PAWmilya Animal-Assisted Intervention Program

𝙿𝚊𝚠𝚜, 𝙿𝚎𝚘𝚙𝚕𝚎, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚊 𝙿𝚞𝚛𝚙𝚘𝚜𝚎! 🐾

Last 30 May 2026, core volunteers of CAFS-PAWmilya, alongside faculty adviser Doc Rina, attended the 2𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙃𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣-𝘼𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, hosted by Communitails and held within the walls of the Ateneo de Manila University. This year's event focused on Healing Connections Between Humans and Animals. Advocates, researchers, professionals, and students all over the country and beyond gathered to strengthen their understanding of the human-animal bond through the means of collaboration, education, and research. We were esctatic to be given our own poster platform, which we utilized to showcase our own program and initatives (Heel to Heal: Co-creating Care through the CAFS PAWmilya AAI Program) to other event-goers and participants.

Morever, the conference was enriched by the knowledge shared by experts within their respective fields, including our very own Doc Rina, who was a plenary speaker on the topic "Animal Welfare in Practice: Aligning Standards with Best Practices". Her team also bagged the best poster award (professional category) for their project "Quack Doctors: Ducks and Chickens in a Permaculture GARDEN Green Care Initiative".

We extend our deepest gratitude to Communitails, Ateneo de Manila University, and the event organizers and curators for creating a rich and lively platform in which people can learn all about the importance of human-animal bonds! 🐕

Meet Charleston Burrito!

Today's session was an initial screening which involved an assessment of Burrito's suitability for Animal-Assisted Interventions. We checked his personality, motivations, abilities, and interests. We're happy that he loves interacting with humans!

We're very excited to have another human-animal team in-training. Through socialization sessions, we hope to help them prepare for therapy work. Thank you, Ekin, for sharing good boy Burrito with us!

What an energetic day!

Last 20 April 2026, Group 3 of NSTP 2 CWTS section AGC8 held a fun Zumba session. The activity provided an opportunity for the students to destress, as well as created a space for social bonding. After the dance cool-down, the participants spent some quality time with therapy dog Scout -- shared moments that brought extra joy and laughter!

What a meaningful afternoon!

Last April 13, “Kumusta Ka?: A Mental Health First Aid Webinar” organized by Group 2 of NSTP 2 CWTS Section AGC8 was successfully conducted, bringing together UPLB students for an important conversation on mental health awareness and support.

Through the talk of Asst. Prof. Jholyan S. Fornillos, RPsy., participants gained valuable insights on recognizing signs of psychological distress, responding with empathy, and encouraging others to seek help when needed.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this initiative more meaningful through your presence and participation. ✨

🎨🐾 PAWS & PAINT: A Success! 🐾🎨

What a paws-itively amazing afternoon!

On April 6, The PAWS & PAINT event organized by Group 1 of NSTP 2 CWTS section AGC8 was a huge success, bringing together UPLB students for a fun, relaxing, and creative experience.

Participants enjoyed painting their very own paint-by-number artworks featuring our adorable canine muses, Milo and Marley. First brushstrokes transitioned to final masterpieces, everyone
got the chance to unwind, express their creativity, and connect with fellow students in a warm and welcoming space.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event truly special! Your enthusiasm, creativity, and love for animals made the activity much more meaningful 🐾✨
