The Aversion Project๐ง
What is rejected by the mind is often influenced by what has been taught to be unacceptable. There are times where people saw something that they thought that thing is unusual or abnormal. Then they think that it is something to be 'corrected' or 'cured', or it's something you were told to hide. But they have to realize that not all discomfort is danger. Sometimes itโs identity waiting to be accepted. The Aversion Project conducted in the 1970s to 1980s tackles the topic of homosexuality being seen as a psychological disease/ illness. It is a sensitive topic for the LGBTQIA+ community as the project resulted in harming homosexual individuals. You can read the rest in the infographic attached below.

This question was explored many years ago by a psychologist named ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐. In the 1950s, he conducted the ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ using infant rhesus monkeys. In his study, the baby monkeys were separated from their real mothers and given two artificial mothers: a ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐, made of soft material that provided comfort๐ซ, and a ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐, made of metal that provided milk ๐ผ for nourishment.
The monkeys were also exposed to frightening situations, such as loud noises and scary objects, to observe which mother they would go to for security. The results showed that the monkeys spent most of their time with the ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐, even though she did not provide food. They only went to the wire mother when they needed to eat.
This experiment showed that attachment is not formed by food alone, but by ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐. โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
Going back to Punch the monkey, just like the infant monkeys in Harlowโs study, Punch carries his toy because it gives him comfort, safety, and emotional support.๐ซ
This reminds us that attachment is not only about survival. Both animals and humans need ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ to grow and develop in a healthy way. ๐ซถ๐ป๐

The Milgram Experiment by Stanley Milgram shows how powerful authority can be in influencing human behavior โก๐ง
In the study, participants were instructed to give electric shocks to another personโand many continued, even when it felt wrong ๐ณโก In fact, about 65% followed orders to the highest level ๐
This experiment reminds us that ordinary people can do harmful actions when pressured by authority ๐ฅ Itโs a powerful lesson about the importance of thinking for ourselves and standing by what is right ๐ญโจ
What do you thinkโwould you have obeyed or refused? ๐ค

FUN FACT FRIDAYS
Have you ever felt helpless after experiencing a series of setbacks and unfortunate events?
Sometimes, when life keeps hitting us with things we canโt control, we slowly stop trying even when the way out is right in front of us. According to American psychologist Martin Seligman, this is called Learned helplessness: a state where repeated stress and failure make us believe that nothing we do will ever make a difference.
But hereโs the truth: that feeling of being stuck is learned, and that means it can also be unlearned. ๐ง
You are not powerless. Sometimes, you just need to be reminded that you still have control. ๐
