RMO's Benchmarking at Bulacan State University | April 14, 2026

The Research Management Office visited Bulacan State University’s Research and Innovation Office (RIO) on April 14, 2026. The visit aimed to learn from BulSU’s research capacity building initiatives and publication incentivization system. The RMO team was graciously hosted by Dr Joseline M Santos, the Director of RIO and her dynamic team composed of Dr Ronilo P Antonio, Head of Research Program and Development, Dr Joseph T Lobo, one of BulSU’s top researchers, and ITSO Head, Engineer Mervin Albalante. BulSU is a premier state university in Region III that has made great strides on quality education, research, and innovation. Maraming salamat BulSU for your warm and generous engagement.

The Research Management Office and the PNU Library would like to thank De La Salle University’s Social Development Research Center (SDRC) for its generous book donation to PNU. The SDRC is a leading center for social science research in the country committed to produce evidence-based policy inputs for community development and transformation. The Center recently celebrated its 47th anniversary and conducted various research dissemination activities for its stakeholders. Four-day Legal Review of the Draft of the Revised PNU Intellectual Property Policy | April 6-8 and 10, 2026

The Research Management Office-Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Unit in collaboration with the Intellectual Property of the Philippines (IPOPHL) organized a four-day legal review of the draft of the Revised PNU Intellectual Property Policy. The activity held on April 6-8 and 10 focused on three things- (1) educate the participants about the IP assets in the University and how they could be protected (2) apply the knowledge the participants gained in reviewing the draft IP Policy and (3) ensure that the provisions in the draft are aligned with laws governing IP. Mr Adrian H Sablan, the Chief of the IP Management and Technology Transfer Division and Engr. Aldrex L Aviso, an IP Rights Specialist led the activity on behalf of the IPOPHL. Through the legal review, the draft IP Policy is expected to be aligned with nationals laws and other legal mandates and so will be able to protect and uphold the rights of the creators and PNU. The RMO-TTIPU would like to thank IPOPHL and the members of the PNU Community including the top and middle level university officials across the PNU system, faculty and employee union representatives, student council representatives, and faculty members who joined the legal review. Their active participation made the activity a success.

PNU RMO at TUP | February 23, 2026

Following the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Philippine Normal University and Technological University of the Philippines in September 2025, the research offices of the two institutions have since worked together in several undertakings. On February 23, 2026 The Research Management Office joined Technological University of the Philippines’ TUP:ARIN- Amplifying Research and INnovation. TUP:ARIN is an annual event that showcases research project proposals of TUP faculty members and staff vying for university funding. Dr Donna Marie DM Gonong, Dr Praksis A Miranda and Dr Marsha C Gomez served as panel members who evaluated the merit of the different research proposals in the field of social sciences, education, and engineering. On February 13, the team of TUP’s University Research and Development Services Department went to RMO to assist the office in the preparation of forms relative to intellectual property management and ITSO application.

January 23, 2026 | University Research Forum

Last January 23, the University Research Forum was held at the PNU HRD Auditorium. The event aimed to share with the community the sabbatical research and creative outputs of Dr. Adonis P David, Dr. Maria Elvira A Asuan, and Dr. Noemi B Zulieta. This is the second year, the URF is jointly co-organized by the Office for Vice-President for Research, Extension, and Quality Assurance-Research Management Office and Office of the Vice-President for Student Success and Stakeholders Services-Events Management Office.

We thank the University officials, faculty members, and students who supported the URF onsite and online. See you next year!

January 21, 2026 | Meeting with PUP RMIPO

The Research Management Office had a productive meeting with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ Research Management and Intellectual Property Office (RMIPO) last January 21, 2026. The meeting centered on the existing research reward system of PUP System developed and being implemented by the RMIPO through the leadership of Dr Jackie D Urrutia. In the meeting, the RMO learned about possible areas for improvement that could be done with the current incentive system being implemented at PNU.

REB Webinar Series: Sustaining Excellence in Ethical Research Practices at the Philippine Normal University
September 19, 20 and October 15, 2025 │ 03:00 - 06:00 PM

The PNU Research Ethics Board (PNU REB) with support from the Research Management Office (RMO) successfully conducted its first Webinar Series on Research Ethics titled Responsible Conduct of Research in the Academe.

The webinar series consisted of three sessions that were delivered to PNU Faculty Members, Graduate School Students, and Third Year and Fourth Year Undergraduate Students on September 19, 20, and October 15 respectively. The webinar featured a focused lecture from Dr Ma Luisa Enriquez, the Director of Research Ethics Office of De La Salle University and a REB information session provided by REB officers.

We thank Ma’am Malu, Dr Teresita T Rungduin, and members of the PNU Community who advocate for the ethical conduct of research in our institution.

📢RMO-TTIPU Consultative Meeting with External Stakeholders

The RMO-Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Unit held a consultative meeting with external stakeholders for the revision of PNU Intellectual Property Policy. The meeting held on September 23, 2025 was attended by two IP specialists - Engineer Trisha Denise Nabatilan of UP Los Banos Technology Transfer and Business Development Office and Dr May Ann Codera of Technological University of the Philippines. The RMO-TTIPU is thankful to Engineer Trisha and Dr May Ann for the important inputs to the draft version.The September 23 consultation meeting was the first in the series of consultations RMO-TTIPU will be conducting to finalize the draft. Sessions with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) and legal specialists will happen this month.
