Vocabulary Builders 25/05/2020

Hi Mommies and Daddies!

Hope you and your family are all coping well during this time of the crisis. As we help each other heal as one, let us also remember to take our time to read, learn and grow as one.

We have prepared a list of timely vocabulary words for you to teach your children. These are mostly difficult words so please try to adjust your instruction according to your child’s level of understanding. To teach these words in a fun way; you and your child may draw, play word charades or do short story writing activities.

Thank you! Stay safe and healthy, everyone!!

Students won't get through all school content while learning at home: here are 3 things to prioritise 08/05/2020

And just like that, things changed in a snap. Classes in school were cancelled and we all had to stay at home. It was abrupt that we all suddenly had to continue and finish our children’s schooling at home.

These days, everybody is joining the bandwagon of continuing school education even at the expense of our mental and emotional health. Yet here we are, advocating a realistic expectation of how learning should be during these inconvenient and trying times. This brings us to the realization that learning should not stop as it can always take place in the comfort of our own homes.

And if there are only just a few things we can teach and do with our children, that is to read to them; to have them learn new big words about what’s happening around us; to provide them with experiences and words to label them; to incorporate Math in practical daily living; to teach values our families uphold. And just may be, these are more than enough, for now.

Students won't get through all school content while learning at home: here are 3 things to prioritise There's more to learning than content. As long as kids maintain the essential literacy, numeracy and social skills, they will be well placed to pick up content they may have missed later.

The Great Realisation 03/05/2020

During this time of the pandemic, we hope you’d take the time to do read-alouds with your children. Do things together with them - things that you rarely did with them or things that you have never tried doing with them because you were more often that not apart from each other. Encourage them to write a journal or draw something about your activities and how you spent your days together at home.

One day soon, when this is all over, they’ll bring with them the memories and the learning this brought on all of us. We do hope that these stories of quiet reflections, and sometimes sad moments ; of simple but blissful activities; of hardships, prayers and hope; of heroes among us, are forever captured in their journals as well as in their hearts and minds. This would not only be a keepsake but a special and personal reminder to them of a time in the year 2020 when we were all quarantined.

As the world is changing and everything is put into halt,
Stay with us. Read with us. Learn with us.
Sing with us.
Pray with us.
Heal with us.
Together we all can get by one day at a time;
With a lot of prayers, a song and hopeful heart.
And with smiles to brighten up our days.
