Divine Adili’s journey brought him far from home, but along the way he found teammates, classmates, coaches, and friends who came to know and love him.

He made a lasting impact through the warmth of his presence, the friendships he formed, and the joy he brought to the communities he became part of. We remember Divine with affection and gratitude, and grieve with all those who loved him — in the Philippines, in Nigeria, and beyond.

The SOH Sanggunian mourns alongside the community over the loss of our fellow Blue Eagles, student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

As members of our wider school community, we extend our deepest condolences and prayers to their families, teammates, friends, and loved ones. We likewise echo the call for the University to provide adequate support to those grieving and to ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability in addressing the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.

Many student-athletes call the School of Humanities home, with Divine being an Interdisciplinary Studies major. As we grieve the loss of an ally, we also urge our community to continue extending compassion, understanding, and support to our student-athletes during this difficult time.

In grief and solidarity, we enjoin the Ateneo community to WEAR BLACK tomorrow to honor the lives of our fellow Blue Eagles, Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

As we honor their memory, we also continue to heed the call of their families, friends, and loved ones for justice, truth, and accountability. Let us come together as one community in expressing our desire for clarity.

Beyond wearing a color in honor of them, we hope that we will eventually be able to honor their lives by embodying an institutional commitment to safety and care for each member of our community, especially for our student-athletes.

[READ] Operational Guidelines Suggestions For Campus Artist Welfare

The SOH Sanggunian establishes a Campus Artist Welfare Initiative to address systemic gaps in the management of campus art markets and artist engagements. Recognizing that independent artists, both art vendors and student performers, are the backbone of these initiatives, this effort seeks to move away from inconsistent coordination and toward a standardized, professional, and empathetic framework. This reflects a concrete measure as outlined by CA Resolution No. 4, s. of 2025-2026.

Following extensive consultations with the Office of Student Activities (OSA), the Council of Organizations of the Ateneo - Manila (COA-M), and the artist community, these guidelines serve as a blueprint for fair financial agreements, transparent communication, adequate onsite support, safety, and mutual respect across different forms of artistic participation.

The suggestions are now submitted to the Office of Student Activities (OSA) for review and approval.

A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING WELFARE CONCERNS EXPERIENCED BY ARTISTS IN THE ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY, AND DECLARING THE SOH SANGGUNIAN’S IN TOTO AGENDA FOR STRENGTHENING THE PROTECTION AND SUPPORT OF ARTISTS THROUGH THE INTRODUCTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF POLICIES THEREOF

The School of Humanities Representative successfully passed a Resolution approved by the Central Assembly, formally expressing the concerns and challenges experienced by campus artists. The Resolution also identified key areas requiring response, thereby paving the way for further dialogue and the development of institutional policies addressing these issues.
