Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating 𝑳𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒅: 𝑼𝑷 𝑺𝒊𝒅𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒏’𝒔 50𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑫𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 last March 28, 2026. From stories shared to laughter over meals, the night was a beautiful reminder of what Sidlangan truly is—a home.

IKA-9 NA KOMEMORASYON NG YOLANDA

Ika-8 ng Nobyembre. Tila di pa rin mabura sa mga alaala ang takot, pangamba, at pangungulilang hinatid ng araw na ito, siyam na taon na ang nakalipas, nang hinagupit ng bagyong Yolanda ang kabisayaan, higit sa Silangang Visayas. Nakikiisa ang UP Sidlangan sa pag-alala sa ang ating mga pumanaw na kapamilya, kaibigan, at sa mahigit anim na libo pang binawian ng buhay, at sa pagbibigay pugay sa mga bayaning nagsakripisyo upang magsalba ng buhay at tumugon sa mga nangangailangan ng tulong.

Sa komemorasyong ito, alalahanin din natin ang ating mga kababayang hanggang ngayon ay naghihikahos pa ring makaahon mula sa mga pinsalang dinulot ng bagyo sa kanilang kabuhayan at mga ari-arian. Sa kabila ng maraming taong lumipas, libo-libong pamilya pa rin ang walang permanenteng tahanan at hindi nabibigyan ng angkop na tulong. Ayon sa Commission on Audit, tinatayang nasa 68.5 milyong piso ng Yolanda funds ang hindi pa binibigay ng Local Water Utilities Administration sa mga karapat-dapat ng mga benepisyaryo [1] at mahigit 56,000 na yunit mula sa Yolanda Permanent Housing Program ng National Housing Authority ang hindi pa naipatatayo [2].

Alinsunod dito, nananawagan ang UP Sidlangan ng agarang aksyon mula sa nasyonal at lokal na pamahalaan upang mabigyan ng angkop na tulong ang mga displaced families. Tangi pa rito, nananawagan ang UP Sidlangan, sa ngalan ng Silangang Visayas, na paigtingin pa ang mga aksyon kaugnay sa disaster risk reduction and management sa rehiyon, bilang taon-taon na lamang ay may banta ng sakuna sa rehiyon. Higit pa rito, ipagpatuloy pa rin natin ang ating panawagang hustisya para sa klima.
