Do you pronounce water, bottle and party with a hard ‘T’ sound? If so, your American accent may sound unnatural or too rigid. In this quick and practical lesson, House of Learners introduces one of the most important rules of American English pronunciation: the flap ‘T’.
When a ‘T’ appears between two vowel sounds in an unstressed syllable, it often sounds like a soft, fast ‘D’. This is called a flap ‘T’.
