Diabetes affects 27% of Pakistani adults. Gum disease affects up to 98%. Nobody is connecting these two numbers - and patients are paying for it.
Gum infection and diabetes feed each other in a loop. Infected gums spike blood sugar. High blood sugar worsens gum infection. Treating one without the other means you're only solving half the problem.
The research backs this - treating gum disease has been shown to improve HbA1c levels. If you or someone in your family is diabetic, a dental check isn't optional. It's part of the treatment plan your endocrinologist isn't giving you.
Comment 'D' if someone in your home is diabetic - I'll tell you exactly what to get checked.

Thinking about braces or aligners? π€
Before you spend Rs. 120,000β250,000 on orthodontic treatment, make sure you know the facts.
β
Brackets are often better for severe crowding and complex bite problems.
β
Aligners can be great for mild-to-moderate casesβbut only if you wear them 20β22 hours a day.
β
Higher price doesn't automatically mean better results.
β
Never start treatment without proper X-rays and diagnosis.
The best treatment isn't the one you preferβit's the one your case actually needs.

π¦· Your gums may be affecting more than just your smile.
Many people are surprised to learn that gum disease has been linked to conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, pregnancy complications, respiratory disease, and more.
Your mouth is not separate from the rest of your body. Inflammation and harmful bacteria in the gums can impact overall health, which is why regular dental check-ups are so important.

In 2019, the same bacteria found in diseased gums was discovered in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. This isn't a theory. It's peer-reviewed research published in Science Advances - and almost nobody in Pakistani dentistry is talking about it.
Your mouth is not separate from your body. It never was.

Would you know if a dental clinic is following proper sterilisation protocols?
Before any dental treatment, make sure you're checking these 3 essential things:
β
Instruments are opened from a sealed sterilisation pouch
β
Fresh gloves are worn in front of you
β
The clinic uses a proper autoclave for sterilisation
These simple checks take less than 10 seconds, but they can make a huge difference when it comes to your safety and health.
At Dental Stories, strict sterilisation protocols aren't optional - they're our standard. Every patient. Every visit.

Did you know that dental amalgam fillings contain approximately 50% mercury?
For decades, amalgam (silver fillings) has been used because it's durable and cost-effective. However, global health organizations are increasingly encouraging a transition toward mercury-free alternatives.
If you already have amalgam fillings, there's no need to panic. In many cases, they can continue to function well for years. However, if you need a new filling, it's worth discussing modern tooth-coloured composite options with your dentist.
At Dental Stories, we believe in providing mercury-free, tooth-coloured composite restorations that blend naturally with your smile while preserving healthy tooth structure.
Have questions about your existing fillings or treatment options? Send us a DM or book a consultation today.

Most people ask about the dentist.
Almost nobody asks about the material going inside their body permanently. π¦·
At Dental Stories, we believe patients deserve transparency.
Thatβs why Dr. Samreen uses calcium-based sealers for root canals β a more advanced, research-backed option with lower cytotoxicity compared to traditional ZOE sealers.
Because what goes inside your tooth matters. Permanently.
DM us to learn more about the materials we use before your treatment. π¬

Your root canal sealer is a permanent material inside your tooth.
Most dentists in Pakistan use ZOE (Zinc Oxide Eugenol) - it's cheap, it's what's taught in college, and it's what's available.
Multiple published studies show it releases cytotoxic levels of eugenol in contact with tissue.
Some flag genotoxic effects. I use calcium-based sealer. It costs more. But it goes inside your body.
Materials matter. Swipe to understand why.
