Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the field of Diagnostic Radiology and Ultrasound by enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and patient care. AI-assisted technologies help medical professionals, radiologist,technologist & sonologist detect abnormalities earlier, reduce diagnostic errors & streamline workflow through automated image analysis and reporting.
From identifying subtle lesions in medical imaging to improving image quality and supporting clinical decision-making,
AI is becoming a valuable partner for healthcare professionals. However, AI does not replace the expertise, judgment and experience of radiologists, ultrasonologist, radiological technologists and medical imaging specialists—
it empowers them to deliver faster and more precise diagnoses.
As medical imaging continues to evolve, the combination of human expertise and artificial intelligence will shape the future of healthcare, leading to better outcomes for patients worldwide.
AI will not replace medical diagnostic imaging specialists but professionals who effectively use AI may lead the future of medical imaging.

Alhamdulillah!
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Rehman College of Allied Health Sciences, Rehman Medical College, Rehman Medical Institute, and the organizers of H.E.A.L Summit 2026 for giving me the honor of participating as an Expert, Speaker, and Subject Specialist in the Focus Group Discussion.
It was a privilege to deliver a 20-minute presentation on the following important topics:

🔹 The Role of Allied Health Sciences in Strengthening Pakistan's Healthcare System.

🔹 Transforming Medical Health Sciences Education: Curriculum Reform, Standardization, and Policy Implications for Pakistan.

The event provided an excellent platform for meaningful discussions with healthcare professionals, academicians, and policymakers regarding the future of Allied Health Sciences in Pakistan.
I was delighted to share my insights and contribute to this important dialogue aimed at strengthening healthcare services and advancing healthcare education in the country.

For years, kidney stones were thought
to be nothing more than hardened mineral deposits.
Just chemistry.
Just crystals.
Just pain.
But science has uncovered something hidden deep inside the most common type of kidney stones:
Living bacteria.
Not only on the surface.
Buried within the stone itself.
Protected inside microscopic biofilm layers.
And suddenly, what we believed for decades begins to change. Researchers discovered that calcium oxalate stones the type responsible for nearly 80% of kidney stone cases may actually contain bacterial communities woven into their structure.
This means kidney stones may not be purely chemical formations after all.
They may also be biological.
At the molecular level, these bacteria appear
to build protective biofilms rich in extracellular
DNA and complex microbial polymers.
Tiny invisible architectures.
And those structures may act like
a scaffold where calcium crystals begin to accumulate layer by layer until a painful stone is
formed.
Not just minerals.
But a collaboration between microbiology and
biochemistry.
This discovery could explain why some patients suffer from recurring kidney stones even after major lifestyle changes.
Because sometimes the real trigger may still be hiding deep inside the stone itself. And perhaps even more importantly:
It changes how we may treat kidney stones in the future.
Instead of focusing only on hydration, minerals, and
diet... future medicine may also target microbial ecosystems, bacterial signaling pathways, and biofilm disruption.
A reminder that the human body is not simply human.
It is an entire microscopic universe.
Every organ.
Every fluid.
Every surface.
Filled with interactions between our own cells and
trillions of microorganisms living beside them.
Sometimes silently helping us.
Sometimes contributing to disease.
The deeper science looks,
the more we realize:
Even inside something as painful and solid as a kidney stone...
life can still exist.

#𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
سالہا سال تک گردے کی پتھری کو صرف معدنیات کے سخت ذخائر سمجھا جاتا رہا۔

صرف کیمیا۔
صرف کرسٹل۔
صرف درد۔

لیکن جدید سائنس نے گردے کی پتھری کی سب سے عام قسم کے اندر ایک حیران کن حقیقت دریافت کی ہے:

زندہ بیکٹیریا۔

صرف سطح پر نہیں،
بلکہ پتھری کے اندر گہرائی میں موجود۔

خوردبینی بایوفلم (Biofilm) کی تہوں میں محفوظ۔

اور یوں وہ تصور بدلنا شروع ہو جاتا ہے جس پر دہائیوں سے یقین کیا جاتا رہا۔
محققین نے دریافت کیا ہے کہ کیلشیم آکسیلیٹ (Calcium Oxalate) پتھریاں، جو تقریباً 80 فیصد گردے کی پتھری کے کیسز کی ذمہ دار ہیں، اپنی ساخت کے اندر بیکٹیریا کی کمیونٹیز کو سموئے ہوئے ہو سکتی ہیں۔

اس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ گردے کی پتھریاں صرف کیمیائی تشکیل نہیں ہوتیں، بلکہ ان میں حیاتیاتی عوامل بھی کردار ادا کر سکتے ہیں۔
مالیکیولر سطح پر یہ بیکٹیریا حفاظتی بایوفلم بناتے ہیں جو ایکسٹرا سیلولر DNA اور پیچیدہ مائیکروبیل پولیمرز سے بھرپور ہوتی ہے۔
یہ ننھی، نظر نہ آنے والی ساختیں ممکنہ طور پر ایک ایسے فریم ورک کا کام کرتی ہیں جہاں کیلشیم کے کرسٹل تہہ در تہہ جمع ہوتے جاتے ہیں اور بالآخر ایک دردناک پتھری کی شکل اختیار کر لیتے ہیں۔
یعنی یہ صرف معدنیات نہیں،
بلکہ مائیکروبیالوجی اور بایو کیمسٹری کا مشترکہ عمل ہو سکتا ہے۔
یہ دریافت اس بات کی وضاحت بھی کر سکتی ہے کہ بعض مریض طرزِ زندگی میں بڑی تبدیلیوں کے باوجود بار بار گردے کی پتھری کا شکار کیوں ہوتے ہیں۔
کیونکہ بعض اوقات اصل سبب پتھری کے اندر ہی چھپا رہتا ہے۔
اور شاید اس سے بھی زیادہ اہم بات یہ ہے کہ یہ دریافت مستقبل میں گردے کی پتھری کے علاج کے طریقوں کو بدل سکتی ہے۔
صرف پانی زیادہ پینے، معدنیات یا خوراک پر توجہ دینے کے بجائے، مستقبل کی طب بیکٹیریا کے ماحولیاتی نظام، ان کے سگنلنگ راستوں اور بایوفلم کو ختم کرنے والی حکمتِ عملیوں پر بھی توجہ دے سکتی ہے۔
یہ ہمیں یاد دلاتا ہے کہ انسانی جسم صرف انسانی خلیات کا مجموعہ نہیں، بلکہ ایک مکمل خردبینی کائنات ہے۔
ہر عضو،
ہر مائع،
اور ہر سطح پر ہمارے اپنے خلیات اور کھربوں جرثوموں کے درمیان مسلسل تعامل جاری رہتا ہے۔
کبھی یہ ہماری مدد کرتے ہیں،
اور کبھی بیماریوں میں کردار ادا کرتے ہیں۔
جوں جوں سائنس گہرائی میں جا رہی ہے، ہمیں احساس ہو رہا ہے کہ:
گردے کی پتھری جیسی سخت اور تکلیف دہ چیز کے اندر بھی زندگی موجود ہو سکتی ہے۔
